Kallis Apartments

Really good location close to all amenities including restaurants, bus station, shopping and water. Very nice cafe that serves really nice coffee and cakes beside the accommodation. Large supermarket a few minutes walk.

The owner, Systa, is very friendly and came to pick us up from the bus station in Reykjavik when we got the bus from the airport. The apartment we had was full of 'character' but we hadn't thought to ask on what floor it was located. It turned out to be on the third floor and there was no lift. The apartment block is also up a slight hill when walking from the town centre so by the time we'd navigated that hill then walked up three floors we were exhausted! (OK, we're getting on a bit and young people would be fine but anyone with mobility issues should think about this). The bedroom was very small and the blackout curtains didn't quite fit the window so we had to construct more blackout by putting a coat over the space where the curtains didn't meet - of course this wouldn't be a problem in the winter but with only a couple of hours of darkness in the summer, it was. Others have said it's 5 to 10 minutes to the town centre but it's more like half an hour to the actual centre near the Parliament Building and Old Harbour. Good free wifi and fully fitted kitchen in the sitting room. By the way, hot water in Iceland is geothermal so when you shower you get a smell of rotten eggs - I assume all showers in the country are like this!

Perfect place home from home to explore Iceland. Location great very close to city centre. Systa guest house owner very helpful and welcoming and gave lots of great advice. Apartment clean spacious and very homely! If we return we will be staying here again :) thank you Systa xx
