Hotel Edda Isafjordur

Have booked at Hotel Horn but was moved to Hotel Edda Isafjordur. It is a school that is used as a hotel during the summer holidays. It is a very old and really looks like a school. Parking is free. . The room was very simple and spartan. There is a double bed arrangement (two single beds pushed together) and with comfortable beds. There is no television or other facilities in the room. The bathroom is small, with a good shower (pressure & heat), but no shampoo available, only hand soap This stay was definitely not good value for money.

I stayed here for 3 weeks while taking a class in Isafjordur. The “hotel” is actually a dorm for boarding high school students during the school year, but is used as a hotel in summer. The rooms are large compared to many Iceland hotel rooms, have private baths, a desk, closet, and large windows. Staff from Hotel Isafjordur comes and services the room every 3 days or so. There is no staff in the building so you have to go into town (walkable) for any extra service. The room key also opened the exterior entrance door, which is otherwise locked. I was able to get my breakfast at Hotel Isafjordur, which was convenient as I had to walk into town every morning anyway. Hotel Edda is a good option for anyone wishing for an economical option to Hotel Isafjordur or Hotel Horn (both very nice in their own right..I have stayed in both) and wanting a private bath, as many guest houses have shared baths instead.

I stayed at 3 different Hotel Edda's while in Iceland. This was the nicest room by far of the 3 hotels but like the others a little pricey. However, you have to figure out where the hotel is. It is in a business complex and not even on the parking level. There are 3 buildings. Once you figure out you need to go up the stairs and into the middle of the 3 buildings you should be able to find.
