Raheem Residency

This building is periodic which shows signs of architecture from a traditional region. This is a building with a limited amount of bedrooms which is appealing to those who just want to relax without the feeling of staying of a hotel chain with rowdy holiday makers insisting on party music blaring from speakers which can be heard for miles. The rooms are dated with original features but are very clean and spacious. The bathrooms are clean and tidy and towels refreshed daily. Should you require frankincense smoke spread in your bedroom in the evening to scare off any mosquitoes this will be done in the evening. There is a massage area / service. Female masseuses for ladies and Male masseuse for the men. This is very relaxing but is not for the bashful person since to will be asked to remove all your clothing and required to wear a tie up cover for your nether region. There is easy access to ricksaw service and the guard will signal for one of you require it. The beach is 20 metres across the road. Locals swim there regularly and some tourists prefer another beach 15-20 km away. The food is excellent that’s all I need to say. One other important thing to mention is that alcohol is not available everywhere in Kerala but this hotel offers beer and spirits which means you don’t have to travel anywhere in the darkness of the night seeking for a cold beer. The most special thing here is the staff who will do everything they can to make your stay welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. They are excellent and will make your stay much more welcoming. My favourite member of staff was Arun who was cheerful and helpful all the time and will always go that extra mile to try and get you anything you need. It is fair to say this residence will not be to everyone’s taste especially if you are used to staying in a 5 star hotel or a top end 4 star hotel but for me it was all about the traditional experience. Due to limited guests allowed this is a very peaceful hotel to stay in.

A great heritage place to stay for a few days of exploring Alleppey and the backwaters, located across a local road by the massive beach. Hotel is a lovely well maintained old traditional building with a swimming pool and restaurant. Paid a bit more for a large traditional room with a large shared lounge and outside seating area next to the pool. Great restaurant and chef with a good menu choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner also serving alcohol. Guys in the restaurant very helpful and made us feel welcome - a big thankyou to Lee and his colleagues for looking after us so well. Google maps does not realise that highway 66 is on two elevated sections of flyover, so you cannot access the property from the flyover by the beach - you have to navigate through the adjoining Cullen or Palace   roads to the beach and hotel under the flyovers.

We will definitely be returning to the Raheem Residency. The building was full of colonial charm and positioned within a stones throw from Alleppy beach. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We made good use of their pool, restaurant and bar.
