Mascot Hotel

I visited Mascot Hotel, Trivandrum, for the Onam Sadhya this year and came away quite disappointed. For the high price they charged, I expected excellent hospitality and a festive atmosphere, but the reality was the opposite. The service was unorganized and very poor – staff seemed inattentive, and there was little effort to make guests feel comfortable. The sadhya was served in a hurried, careless manner, without the warmth or attention to detail that such a traditional feast deserves. While Onam Sadhya is meant to be a joyful culinary experience, here it felt like just another crowded, overpriced meal. Mascot Hotel needs to seriously improve both the quality of its service and the value it offers, especially during such an important occasion. Sadly, I would not recommend their Onam Sadhya to anyone expecting good hospitality.

Visited the restaurant of the hotel for having the Thiruvona sadya. The quality of food was very poor. A bad experience in total. Payasam were of poor quality. Arrangements were very poor. Being a pretegious hotel run by KTDC guests are expecting more quality and better hospitality Dr R Jayaprakash

There was a time not too long ago when Mascot was the only happening place in Trivandrum. Swanky star hotels hadn't yet appeared, and any time you wanted a feel of luxury, Mascot was the destination. We were in Trivandrum a lot over the past couple of years to renovate our family home, and we booked into Mascot a few times because of the proximity. We found that the rooms on the higher floors are far better. Rooms on lower floors give you dingy views and feel cluttered. In some rooms air-conditioning even on the lowest setting will freeze your joints. Bathrooms are functional. We had problems with hot water every single time. Wash basins are so small that you will bruise your hands on the tap. The famed kitchens seem to be a tale from the past because we never hit lucky with any of the breakfast buffets. So we never risked their lunches or dinners. The last time we stayed, there was a large group booking. Despite informing reception that we did not want our room to be cleaned, it was opened when we went out and some other guests' luggage was placed carelessly on top of ours. We were quite upset because we had left all our documents and other valuables in the room. When we complained, the manager was rude and told us to go ahead and report it to higher authorities. Later another staff member apologised and said that the manager was related to a minister, so he couldn't care how he behaved with guests. We have never stayed there after that incident. Reading the scandalous stories that soon broke out, we were horrified that we might have stayed in one of those night-knock rooms!
