Sapta Petala Hotel

We booked here for two nights on a brief stop over in Kuta, won over by the initial price (if I am being honest) and the photographs looked relatively good. A close to the airport location was also a big plus. Sadly, that is where the happiness ends. This hotel is grim, even for the price offered I was staggered with how bad it was. To the point of cancelling our booking and moving elsewhere for a second night. The corridors and staircases would not be out of place in a prison. Upon being led to our room by a very friendly staff member we were greeted by a small room, consisting of a wooden wardrobe, a small desk and a fairly large bed. Aforementioned bed headboard was covered in stains of the brown variety, the sheets not looking much better. There was visible mould to the roof and walls, which evidently had not been painted since conception. The balcony door did not have a locking mechanism, and the front door lock looked like it would give with a soft wind. "Yes, but you paid £8 for a night". True I say, however for safety and health reasons I just would not stay here again. Would probably be ideal for backpackers and people who are less interested in their general well being, but honestly, I'd pay £8 more and stay somewhere you would feel safe in leaving valuables and or sleeping in. I am certain other rooms were probably better, and we maybe just had a bad hand. But given our experience I would sincerely avoid. Generally run down and borderline derelict in some areas, probably had it's day. Plus points, the air conditioning was fantastic, the staff were nice, and the location is great for airport transfers / stop offs.

Just 15 minutes cab ride from the airport. A 20 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of the busy part and night life of Kuta. Kuta beach can also be walked from the hotel, 30 or so minutes. Simple and accomodating. Place: the reception is on the outside. It has a small parking space. It is a multi-storey hotel. Room: a queen size bed, a big closet, aircon, flat screen tv, drawer with a mirror and a chair, bathroom and balcony. -the aircon is very weak. It could not even cool the room. -the bed seems to have sand on them, i asked the room to be cleaned the next day but it still has the grainy feel to it. Probably the sheets. Only have 2 pillows. -tv are local channels. -i don't recall the bathroom if having a heater, then again it is not necessary as it was hot. -no power outlet. It only have one for the tv and that is about it. -balcony floor is dusty. Not much of a view. You can smoke. -WiFi is ok. Was able to make voip calls. But there are spots where signal get lost. And you have to buy a local sim in order to access the wifi. Staff: very friendly and accomodating. The houseboy, Putu (if i recall correctly), always ready to assist and nice to know they speak english. Outside: when i went there the roads are being repaired. There is a big hotel next to it and lots of place to stay-in on the way to the main street where the mall and other shops are located. There are 2 or 3 convenience store that are open 24 hrs. Some local eatery as well. At night, the streets can get really dark. Money exchange- none nearby. Head to the main street to find a lot of kiosk. Rates are almost similar (they are higher in other places in Bali). ** If you are just looking for a place to sleep and leave your stuff, this is enough. It is near the airport and to the city life in Kuta. There are familiar fastfood and shops. Or just enjoy the sunset at Kuta beach.

Really clean and cheap! The staff is nice and helpful! But the neighbor has a rooster.. Which off course has nothing to do with the hotel but it's nice to know before you book. It will wake u up! Also they really pushed me to buy some really expensive tickets to Gili. I only wanted to boy one way but they told me it was impossible to buy tickets at Gili and that it would be more expensive. Hugh lie!
