Jamahal Private Resort and Spa

It’s difficult to write a review for Jestate as while the villa itself was fantastic, other factors impacted on the overall experience. At over AU$530 per night, we came in expecting a certain level of customer service and experience, and we walked away feeling a bit disappointed given the money we spent. We booked Jestate as we wanted an affordable adults only villa with a private pool in Jimbaran, and this was one of the only options we came across that was suitable. Having stayed in Bali before at places for AUD$250-350 per night and experiencing incredible personalised service and a very high level of Balinese hospitality, we found that we didn’t get that here, despite paying much more. While the staff were pleasant, I got the impression it was family run accommodation and it was understaffed, as opposed to the villa we stayed at immediately prior, which provided a very high level of professional service in comparison. The check in and check out processes were slow and we were left sitting in the reception area wondering what was taking so long, and on both occasions we had to ask them to expedite what they were doing. There was no sense of urgency. The villa itself was fantastic, the gardens were quite big and the pool was great, and it’s this space you’re paying the premium for. I liked that there was two spots to sit by the pool and relax (either the individual sun lounges with umbrella or the double cabana which was completed shaded). The inside had a full living area with massive couch and the bedroom and bathroom were also spacious. The rooms weren’t brand new but were clean and in traditional Balinese style. Something that was strange is unlike other hotels and villas they didn’t provide complimentary bottled water (in pre sealed branded plastic bottles) but instead provided mineral water in reusable glass bottles. We are very concious of water while travelling in Bali so we only felt comfortable using this for brushing our teeth and otherwise bought our own water from the shop nearby. The breakfast was really nice (small serves but quality over quantity) and the meals we got from room service were also really good. Unfortunately the villa was impacted by quite a lot of traffic noise as the villa is located on an extremely busy road. In addition, there seemed to be a business nearby which had staff out the front talking loudly and cheering during most of the day which was extremely annoying. There are also local food markets across the road and the smoke from the open BBQs was so strong and thick that we could smell the smoke from the villa which was quite unpleasant.

A fabulous place to stay! We had the private pool villa and it was gorgeous! Lovely breakfast served to the villa each morning. Excellent service. Excellent English spoken. Very welcoming from all staff. General use pool lovely too. Highly recommended!!

We finished our trip in Jimbaran for the final 2 nights of our honeymoon and JEstate Bali was the perfect end to our trip! A special thanks for Budi and the rest of the staff for making our stay so memorable, and going above and beyond! We were particularly grateful for the early check-in and late check-out! They also served the most delicious Nasi Goreng for breakfast which we had both days and it was definitely the best one we had tried during our holiday to Bali! We couldn’t recommend JEstate more and hope to visit again in the future! Thank you Budi and team!
