Grand Mega Resort & Spa Bali

The WORST hotel experience ever. We needed for 1 night two rooms for 1 night. My wife had spent 3 nights in the adjacent BIMC hospital. The next day we would leave for the Netherlands. Admittedly friendly at check in helped and short room inspection done. I liked the rooms so much but thought to do for 1 night. We arrived at the hotel about 8 pm from zh. My wife in the room with my daughter and I another room. The hotel hardly seemed occupied. When we had a drink on the almost deserted terrace we saw a fat rat coming our way. Then to the room. These stank of ammonia or bleach. Cranes rusted, tarpaulin torn on the ground, moisture through the wall, weathered mirrors, stains in the tumbled bedding. Although a new room was offered, it looked just like that and smelled extremely musty. The purple velvet upholstery on the wall, furniture and dirty bedding suggest that this hotel is more of a meeting place... Fortunately we were able to book another hotel for the night. I didn't get my money back...what a horrible hotel experience!

We had a major issue with the hotel where we stayed, Grand Mega Resort and Spa, Kuta. We were first allotted room 229, when we arrived on 14-May-2026. It smelled of mold and sewerage. Although there were 2 ACs in the room, they were not effective in cooling the room, even after running at 16 degrees C for more than 4 hours. The hotel staff told us that there are no other rooms available. So, we adjusted for one night with a request to move over to another room the next day. Next day, 15-May-2026, we were allotted room 213. It was also smelling of mold and sewerage but the AC was working fine. We were told that there is no other room available. The smell was slightly less than room 229. When we returned in the evening on 15-May-2026 after our outing, we found that the hot water was not working. In fact, when we opened the hot water tap, there was no water flow at all. We complained to the hotel staff but they did not take any action. We were too tired to follow-up. We again asked the receptionist on duty at 6:30 in the morning on 16-May-2026 to fix the hot water issue but no action was taken. The situation persisted throughout our stay. We complained twice more. 3 people gave me 3 different answers which shows that thwy were all lying: 1. Answer 1 – The pump driving the hot water is broken 2. Answer 2 – There is a hot water problem in the entire hotel (we immediately checked room 229 and hot water was coming there. When confronted as to why the water is coming in 229 and not in 213, no response from the receptionist) 3. Answer 3 – The pipe on top of the terrace was leaking and they have replaced the pipe. Hot water did not come even after this final fix. I had my 12 year old son travel with us, who had to bathe with cold water for 4 days. The room had cockroaches and even basic dusting was not done. They will not refill shampoo and body wash even after request. They cannot even provide an adaptor for international travellers. They have an international plug in the room but it does not work as it is not connected to the electrical lines. Very poor soundproofing. We could hear vehicles all through the night. The whole setup is very dinghy and gloomy. When asked for a discount, as the hot water is not working, staff declined. All the staff knows is to say sorry.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. Service is very bad. The staff was very rude. The men at reception talks as if they are giving us Rooms on charity. Rooms are just average and does not come close to even a three star property. Food is also horrible. You can find much better options in and around the city.
