Villa Mahapala

We stayed at Villa Mahapala for 4 nights and 5 days as a couple in June 2026, and I want to write this review in a practical way so future guests know exactly what to expect. From our experience, I would recommend more than seven days in Bali if you want a proper relaxing holiday.Overall: 9.7/10 Location: 9.6/10 Room: 8/10 Pool: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Breakfast: 8/10 Staff: 10/10 Privacy: 10/10 Value for money: 9.7/10 Would I return? Definitely. One thing I would change has nothing to do with Villa Mahapala: I would stay longer in Bali. Four days is not enough if you want to explore different places and also enjoy a private villa. We kept going out because we wanted to see everything and didn't have enough time to simply relax Excellent for couples, honeymooners or anyone who values privacy and space. Just consider the travel time if most of your planned activities are around Kuta or other distant areas. 1) PRIVACY: 10/10 The villa is genuinely private. Neighbours and staff cannot see inside, so I would highly recommend it for couples and honeymooners. You may hear some noise from other villas while outside in your private pool, but inside our room we heard nothing. We specifically requested a villa away from the main road and our sleep was very peaceful. 2) LOCATION: 9.6/10 The area itself is quiet. The beach is approximately a 2-minute walk away and the mall is around 5–10 minutes on foot. There are restaurants nearby and getting Grab or Gojek was very easy. The only thing you should understand before booking is the distance from some tourist activities. Kuta can take around one hour and Tanjung Benoa for water sports can take 30 minutes to one hour depending on traffic. If you plan to travel around Bali every day, be prepared for longer rides. For us, the peaceful location and privacy were worth it. 3) PRIVATE POOL: 10/10 We loved the pool. It was very clean, had plenty of sunlight and the water was cool, which felt great in Bali's hot weather. The private pool seemed approximately 4–4.5 ft deep. You can swim in it, but it is not a long lap pool. For us, around four swimming strokes took us from one side to the other. We still used it almost every day. The best part is that your private villa pool is available 24 hours, so you can use it whenever you want. There is also a much larger common pool outside, which was very spacious and clean. 4) ROOM: 8/10 The room is HUGE and the bed was very comfortable. There was enough storage for a stay of several days. My biggest complaint about the entire villa was the lighting. The bedroom and bathroom were both very dim. I also found the pillows a little too large, but they were okay. A very important practical tip: we couldn't find charging sockets beside the bed, or perhaps we missed them. The sockets we used near the TV area were two-round-pin sockets. Check the socket type and bring the correct adapter before travelling. 5) BATHROOM AND OUTDOOR SHOWER The bathroom was very clean and had a bathtub. Hot water was available and the shower pressure was excellent. However, the actual shower is outdoors and has no roof. It felt a little strange and uncomfortable the first time, but the shower area is private and we quickly got used to it. The main disadvantage is rain. Because there is no roof above the shower, I can imagine it being inconvenient if you need to shower during heavy rain. We didn't have any major mosquito or insect problems that I can remember, and the toiletries provided were decent. 6) CLEANLINESS: 10/10 The villa was extremely clean when we arrived. Daily housekeeping was available, towels were changed and the pools were kept clean. I also appreciated that staff entered the villa only at the times we specified. This is important when staying in a private pool villa. 7) BREAKFAST: 8/10 Breakfast is not a buffet. You select from a menu and can choose to eat at the restaurant or have breakfast served inside your villa. We always chose breakfast in the villa because we preferred the privacy. The portions were very large for us and the food tasted decent. There were enough options to choose something different on different days. If you want breakfast at a particular time during busy periods, I recommend informing reception the previous day. One small personal recommendation: choose the juice. We didn't really enjoy the coffee or tea. 9) STAFF AND SERVICE: 10/10 All the staff were excellent. Everything was handled smoothly, responses were fast and someone was available 24 hours. We had no confusion during our stay. Check-in is after 14:00. If you arrive early, the beach is nearby and you can easily walk around the area while waiting. We were also offered a welcome drink on arrival. 10)WI-FI The Wi-Fi was fast and stable. We had no network or connectivity problems. 11) PHOTOS VS REALITY The villa looks the same as the photos. We didn't feel that the property was misleadingly photographed. 12) VALUE: 9.7/10 For the amount we paid, the villa was absolutely worth it. It is huge, private and comfortable. A similar level of privacy and space can cost many times more at other properties. My only real complaints are the dim lighting and the outdoor shower. .

Wonderful hotel in a great location Stayed here in June 2026 and would highly recommend this hotel. The two rooms were very spacious and clean with more than enough space for hanging clothes. My only grumble was that the room with twin beds for kids was actually the nicer room 😉 The outdoor area (decking and sunbeds) needed a little TLC but the pergola and dining area were all in very good condition. We had breakfast delivered to the room every morning and did not use the restaurant. We then had sun in our very private area (decking and pool) till we went out for lunch around 1ish. We then used the main pool and took advantage of the happy hour from the bar. The hotel was quite so like having our own massive pool. The gym was more than sufficient for holiday needs. Location was a few minutes walk to the beach and there was a great restaurant just off the drive and left for lunch (shotgun social) as well. When going to the beach you do have to run the gauntlet of the small market and getting hassled to go in to the shops. Few restaurant options if you turn left (recommend Segara) and few more if go right. Close to the Bali mall which was helpful on our last day and somewhere nice to sit in the cool.

This was our second stay at Mahapala and again we could not fault it. The staff ate warm and welcoming, the villa with its own pool was clean, tidy and well maintained. The villa itself is within easy reach of Sanur beach, many fabulous beach front eateries and of course Icon Mall. I would recommend this villa to anyone - so much so we are intending a third visit next year
