Swiss Bel Bayview

This is an exceptionally beautiful villa, and is maintained in the style it deserves. It stands gleaming white against the blue sea and the sky, making a dramatic picture. Located in Candidasa, which is arguably the prettiest part of Bali, it is one of the three or four similar villas that share the seafront. There is no better place for a large family or group of friends who wish to spend time together. The villa has 4 independent bedrooms- two on the ground floor, and two on the first, which opened into a large, high-roofed living space. A full kitchen, staffed by very helpful young boys and girls under the control of Ilu, that wonderful lady. They all spoke good English. Ilu turned out incredible meals. The food is mostly local, Balinese and Indonesian, and is served in a gazebo overlooking the sea. We had many a drink looking at some of the most incredible sunsets. There is a terraced garden with lush plants and flowering frangipani, which abuts an almost olympic-sized pool. There is an outdoor jacuzi, which, sadly, wasn't heated. The large bedrooms had king-sized beds, and plenty of storage for our luggage. The bathrooms were big, and there was no shortage of hot water. Each bedroom had complete privacy, and lying in bed, we could see the sea through the french doors that opened out into the garden and pool area. The staff cleaned the rooms daily and took care of our laundry. The villa is located about a kilometer or two from Candidasa, which can be easily reached by a walk. But the heavy traffic makes walking difficult. The villa has transportation, and we preferred to use the villa's car, available for very reasonable rates. We have stayed in Candidasa area many times, but this has to be the best accommodation ever.

The lane leading to a 150 year old doorway is incredibly underwhelming. However when you pass through the doors you enter another world. The Balquisse Heritage Hotel in Jimbran Bay Bali is amazing. Old British with a Moroccan influence build and fit out the rooms and landscaping are unique. Our bathroom was the size of most hotel rooms and our adjoining library was well stocked and featured some outstanding artifacts. Only about 22 rooms, two swimming pools, delightful restaurant and the most relaxing yoga room looking over a garden that would send any insomniac into a 2-day sleep. You recon we enjoyed it? I stayed for 2 days in one bedroom villa.. they have a spacious and quiet villa and my son really enjoyed it.. but it looks old and not well maintained (i think because its too big for one bedroom villa).. overall its good and i loooooove the big pool so i can spend more time with my family.. they have a pantry too..
