We were brought to visit this remarkable temple in Bali by our local driver, who was recommended by our neighbors who visited Bali 9 years ago and were very satisfied with him, and whom we wholeheartedly recommend (Putu Suardika, phone number +62 878-6098-9501).
He told us that it is also called the Royal Temple of Ubud, as it was the official residence of the royal family of Ubud. During the visit, a very young guide impressed us with the wealth of information he shared about the history of the temple, Balinese religion, the three calendars, and Nyepi Day—the approaching Balinese New Year.
We were deeply impressed! It is a place truly worth visiting!

During the day, you can enter for free and see the exterior of the Royal Palace. In the evenings, there is a dance show every night from 19:30, and you can see a different company dance every day.

From the outside it looked very nice but as in most temples you can not enter except in special cases. That's too bad. They are right to want to preserve sacred places from hordes of disrespectful tourists but those who perhaps appreciate culture feel deprived of a special experience.
