Hotel du Grand Paradis & Spa La Baita

Cogne is a mountain village in the Aosta Valley with a discreet charm. The Hotel du Grand Paradis is the perfect example of the sober beauty of Cogne. My husband and I spent a week (August 8-15) in this hotel, which is tastefully furnished and managed by kind, smiling, and professional staff. The owner, Mr. Filippo, always available to give advice to his guests, the reception staff (in particular Andrea and Giulia, ready to satisfy our every need and curiosity), the dining room staff, attentive to making every guest's breakfast a pleasant start to the day, and the meticulous cleaning staff literally won us over. Without hesitation, we recommend the Hotel du Grand Paradis to anyone who wants to spend a pleasant vacation in Cogne.

I was at this property for 8 days, staying in the mini-apartments they own across from the hotel where I went for breakfast. The apartment is reached by a steep staircase to the first floor; it has a small kitchen, a windowless bathroom, and a very small bedroom that doesn't even have doors, and the bed is very small, so there is poor comfort. The room overlooks a poorly maintained and dark internal courtyard. The kindness of the staff is not in question, but chaos reigns at breakfast in the morning. Something is always missing, which they replace if you ask, but the customer shouldn't have to point it out. Tables that you often have to share with other guests, like a cafeteria. Good products, but always the same things; fresh fruit is scarce. You even have to make the coffee yourself at the machine, which often jams. Tables don't even have napkins on them. In short, the property is right in the center, in the heart of Cogne; cleaning is done by the afternoon, but the price of almost 200 euros per night for the apartment and breakfast service is too much.
