Residence Ciel Bleu

Apartment not suitable for rent. Undignified. Most cabinet doors do not close because they are wrinkled. The porthole of the washing machine does not open because it touches in the toilet cup. The bidet dances. There is a pot under the water meter (in the bathroom) for the classic leak drop. The bathroom top is held steady by a cardboard wedge. The kitchen faucet leaks annoyingly. The French door (the only opening of the apartment) when closed has a direct draft on the sofa bed. Mattresses that even the sea mattress is not so uncomfortable. All different cutlery and some dirty. In short... apart from the beautiful view of the mountains from the terrace, the apartment built in the second half of the 70s has remained as... Ah the apartment is in fact a studio of about 35 square meters in which a bathroom without window has been created and the intake fan does not work, followed by a room with 1 bunk bed without windows or any ventilation, a loculus in short. Kitchenette small but all in all functional. In the entrance the wall that creates the kitchen has two folding bunk beds... if the beds are in use the front door does not open. At the end there would theoretically be 8 beds (there are two sofa beds in the living room). Typical solution chosen by groups of penniless boys in the 80s to go skiing... But now we are 50 years later!

The price was very low, considering we went there for New Year's eve. The view was amazing, you could see the sun rising on the Mont Blanc. However, the room was very small, we were four and we were cramped in there, cleaningness was acceptable. The cookers were barely working, it took ages to boil water, moreover, wifi worked only within the hall, despite what stated on the residence's description.

I was originally booked into a hotel in Valmorel but as there was no snow left there we got shipped off to Pila with no idea what to expect! The hotel is quite old-fashioned and the designers were big wood fans - everything is pine! But we had no complaints about it at all, the rooms and balconies are very large and well equipped. There is a pizzeria in it where the pizzas are freshly made in the stone oven. It is the furthest away from the ski lifts of all the hotels in Pila but it's still only a 10 minute walk. There's a bus that you can get but it's usually full as it's come up from Aosta. The chairlift makes getting to Aosta easy which is great as it's a really nice town. I'd definitely go back to Pila and to this hotel.
