Hotel Masseria Le Pajare

Returning from the M asseria le payare that say all well the stay, the pool, .. the highlight was the breakfast, delicious and super assorted .. I recommend this structure

We decide to have dinner at this Masseria given the good reviews. An experience, alas, to be forgotten. First red flag: I had never happened to read a menu with 90% asterisks... we are in a seaside place and the fish that is offered is practically all frozen... I find it inconceivable. We order a mussel sauté (one of the few fresh dishes) I would say good as you find in many restaurants but anyway I cannot say anything about the quality. Let's get to the sore points: we order 1 spaghetti with clams and 1 troccolo with lobster, the top dish on the menu. After about 1 hour (no more than 4 tables to serve) the long-awaited dishes arrive: spaghetti with clams lacking in flavor (garlic absent despite being 1 fundamental ingredient in the typical recipe) but let's say passable even if it leaves no emotion on the palate, no memory... but let's move on to the dish that was supposed to be the top: troccoli drowned in tomato and lobster that was rubber in its pure state, inedible! And yet the waitress at the time of ordering, upon express request if the lobster was fresh, guaranteed me that it was. So, taking for granted what I was told by the waitress (more than one doubt arises) is it possible that a chef can overcook that noble raw material in that way!?!? And is it possible to pay 22 € for such a dish!?!? In that way, the dish should not have left the kitchen at all in my modest opinion. Service slow and not very attentive to the customer's requests. I give one star only for the mussel sauté, an experience to be forgotten. Absolutely not recommended if you want to enjoy some good fresh fish; on the other hand, the menu speaks for itself, where the asterisk reigns supreme.

I am writing this review reluctantly and without any enthusiasm…but I could not go back on my word given to the kind, diligent, and dutiful owner of the property. I must preface that this is the second year that I have spent a vacation period at Le Pajare together with my 8-year-old son…and that I had recommended the property to other friends and acquaintances…but evidently these are not aspects that were appreciated by the management…but let’s get to the very sad and miserable episode that forced me to write these lines…a Friday morning in June, after having loaded the luggage into the car, I go to the reception for check-out…I pay and thank them; Considering that around 12:00 I had to move to another property in Presicce, without any fraudulent intention and without seeing anything wrong with it, I decide to stay a couple of hours at the property's pool which was emptyyyy…there was no one there except for an elderly couple. so I believed that I was not causing any harm to the guests…and here the unbelievable and incredible happens…while as I said I was in the company of my son, an 8-year-old child, the diligent and dutiful owner reaches me who, as if I were a crook, invites me to leave the property telling me that otherwise I would have to pay for that stay…I tell her that considering that I had checked in late on Monday, I didn't see anything wrong with staying for two hours…she incredibly with a stern demeanor tells me: it's your problem if you arrived late…at which point I, incredulous and mortified especially because this scene took place in front of an 8-year-old child and with an empty pool, got up, gathered my things, and left.. obviously I shared my experience with all my friends and acquaintances. Dear ma'am….cordially and affectionately I give you a big hug!
