Hotel Resort Mulino a Vento

Everything was perfect!! The property was incredibly well maintained down to the smallest details. Very clean!! The windows: you would walk right through them! The restaurant for dinner is excellent, the breakfast is hearty and super varied. The owners keep a close eye on things and on their team of employees: that is the secret to their success!! The junior suite rooms are prettier than in the photos. A little chilly to test out the lovely pool. Only downside: the massages: expensive, unprofessional, and the room was way too bright and not intimate. The resort deserves a 5-star rating; after 2 bad experiences in Puglia, this resort saved our stay.

We didn't know what to expect when, at dusk, we were driving these narrow roads in the olive groves. I have to confess I was a bit concerned we were going to a rustic farmhouse. But, we turned the corner into a brightly-lit courtyard and entered an oasis of calm beauty. Check in was easy, complete with sparkling wine, and we were quickly taken to our rooms. The rooms were updated and attractive with the most comfortable beds, a well-equipped bathroom and lovely terrace. It's the common spaces that were the best. The outdoor dining areas (we ate both breakfast and dinner at the resort) were so comfortable. The pool was a spa of comfort. And we enjoyed a cooking class and olive oil tasting at another one of their buildings. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Valentina!! And it was great fun to have the owner staying at the hotel. While we didn't speak Italian and he didn't speak English, his concern for our comfort and well-being was so apparent. One evening they had local musicians perform and the guests all started dancing which was a memorable moment. The 5 days zipped by and we were so sad to leave. A few pieces of advice: be sure to borrow the bikes and ride into the local town for gelato, drive to the coastal towns to swim in the ocean, Otranto was a fun evening excursion, be sure to learn how to make Orecciati with the head chef (he'll even take you to the garden to pick the ingredients for the salad), the olive oil tour was a bit disappointing, and make sure to take the dinner plan. The roads are too unsafe to drive after dark and the closely agritourismo wasn't worth the walk. You'll eat better at the resort and the menu keeps changing.

Family resort perfectly well-maintained in beautiful gardens with a very nice pool. We liked our very pretty, very clean, and very comfortable deluxe room with its terrace. We also appreciated the availability and kindness of all the staff. Finally, the meals are remarkable: fabulous breakfast and restaurant offering very fine cuisine served on-site by a magnificent vegetable garden... enough to feel as satisfied, calm, and relaxed as the house cats.
