Basiliani Resort & Spa

We got off to a bad start at this Hotel, after some unexpected delays we arrived late, we were surprised to find no Water dispenser in reception, the Receptionist was a little curt to say the least, she produced a map with directions to our Tui standard room!! this statement I thought was a little unnecessary, she agreed to accompany us, 5 corridors & 4 lifts later we arrived at room 146. It’s not close to any amenities & I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with mobility issues, The room was clean & practical, it did lack hangers, & shelving is limited in the bathroom, we had a good balcony & a rail for drying swimwear, The food at the Hotel was fine not always to my palate but we didn’t go hungry, the restaurant staff were always helpful & friendly, The pool area was lovely spacious sunbeds lots of pretty decorative shades & a life guard There is a small section of Jacuzzi in the pool, the middle section of the pool was often used for lap swimming, the area is kept clean & tidy, towels can be changed for a fee. We used the snack bar on poolside the coffee was excellent My husband took advantage of the free cycle use, but found the bikes to be in a poor state, they lacked gearing, brakes & the tyres were flat, there were no tools available so he sought some from the maintenance man, he did make a good suggestion of placing the bike’s at the back of the Hotel here you venture out & return on the flat, if we ever return I would probably hire some locally & take our own tools. The same receptionist was on duty on our day of check out & there was no way she was going to extend our room stay, there was a conference group at the Hotel who she said had booked out all of the rooms despite there being availability on the website, it’s worth mentioning, that a late pick up will mean showering on poolside, & changing where ever you can. Overall Otranto Stole my heart we saw & did plenty.. & hopefully one day we will return.

We stayed for the weekend and could not have chosen better. The hospitality and welcome are truly exceptional. The property does not betray the description and the photos published on the website. The pool, surrounded by greenery and almost Olympic-sized, with crystal clear water, is truly relaxing. The rooms are spacious with top-notch cleaning service. Excellent breakfast from sweet to savory with fresh seasonal fruit. We will return!

The hotel accommodation in itself we found ça va. Drinks at the table and other extras like SPA resort were expensive. As for the food: breakfast good, but basic, exactly the same every day. Dinner we did not find to be plum. By far never meat or tasty roast fish, far too few vegetables, and for Flemish people perhaps totally unknown pasta dishes, which myself and my wife could not appreciate at all. Staff get a big thumbs up from us.
