Alessandra’s excellent communication prior to our arrival ensured that we had a very smooth check in. The room was full of character with doors onto a small balcony looking onto a satisfying street view below. The location is excellent, quiet but within a few metres of local restaurants and the historic Sassi cave houses, churches and views. The central piazzas, places of interest and Duomo are all within walking distance. This is a great base to explore the city from. We would definitely re-visit if in Matera again and would recommend Il Sorriso Dei Sassi.

First time in Matera with my wife, to discover the European Capital of Culture 2019. To better live the experience we searched a lot for a central place and easy to reach by car (we were on a road trip from Belgium). The choice was not easy because there are really many tourist structures. So we decided to try “Il Sorriso dei Sassi” managed by Alessandra. Close to the center, not far from a private parking (10€ / day) recommended by the manager, with superb rooms with views of the “sassis” (and air conditioning), super fast and super convenient online check-in, IL SORRISO DEI SASSI was really great. Breakfast is not included because the structure is no longer a B&B: at 100m there is a superb square with lots of bars. Alessandra has provided us with all the necessary information to visit the city and to take full advantage of the services and activities offered by the Municipality of Matera. 200% recommended. Bravo Alessandra ✨

A night booked on the spot (we had planned to arrive in Matera the next day) randomly among the few remaining availability. A pleasant surprise! Convenient "automatic" check-in with the keys in the locker near the door allowed us to arrive calmly after dinner. Excellent location in the middle of the Bari area. Spacious room, comfortable bed. The hydromassage tub is fairly useless, it's difficult to use it for a simple shower but whatever. Note of merit to Imma who in the morning provided us with abundant explanations and advice on visiting the city with a genuine enthusiasm and from which all operators in the sector should take inspiration!
