Popilia Country Resort

We stayed at this property for two nights, regularly paid for in advance via online booking. Upon arrival at the front desk, some problems from the staff in charge in verifying the booking. Once clarified and confirmed, it seemed that everything should have proceeded according to the standards you expect during a vacation, but on the morning of the day following the first of the two overnight stays, while heading from the pool to the room, the sad and embarrassing surprise; the door does not open. So, the matter in short turns into a misadventure! Because I had to go to the reception to ask for explanations. Once on the spot, I was answered decisively by the staff that from that moment we were checking out! Embarrassing! In total discomfort, I reiterate for the second time that two nights had been booked and paid for regularly. After further checks, they inform us that it had been a mistake. (without apologizing). Once the anger subsided, we took care to book dinner for the following evening at the restaurant inside the resort, and here comes the second unpleasant and inexplicable piece of news; we are told that there is no more room! Disappointment! As for the outdoor environment, nothing to say, beautiful and well-kept. Restaurant staff kind and professional. The management of the resort definitely needs to be reviewed. The last surprise (disappointing for a property of this kind) we are informed that, upon checkout, after having left the room, to use the pool, we would have had to pay € 20 per person due to overcrowding problems. At this point I think that if a pool has reached a number of guests high enough to compromise its function and management, it is no longer appropriate to allow access to others “but only if paying”

Always fantastic to stay in this splendid property. The friends we brought with us for the first time were ecstatic about the location. They commented positively: beauty of the place, cleanliness, courtesy of the staff especially at the reception, quality and goodness of the restaurant. It is truly a pleasure, in a Calabria so mistreated and with few services, to find such an enchanting place, cared for down to the smallest detail.

Stunning place, clean, elegant, quality food cooked well; the only drawback was a waiter who, during breakfast, took it upon himself to reprimand me that I could not take food away, while I was sitting at a small table and preparing a sandwich, a rude gesture toward a lady who wanted a sandwich, all in a not-low voice, in fact, others in the dining room heard. However, politeness is a gift; those who do not have it cannot use it; for the rest, everything was exceptional.
