Hotel Tenuta Montelaura

Very bad experience. Spectacular location but the owners are the opposite. The owner is rude and ill-mannered; we encountered a problem with the wine, we asked the waiter if the wine was included and he confirmed it, so we also ordered the desserts that were supposed to be included and they did not include them, same thing for the wine. We had to spend a fortune for things that they told us were included. Meat is served to us raw when we did not want it rare; they did not even ask us how we wanted it cooked. I strongly advise against going there.

We spent a fantastic day, great food, location surrounded by greenery, impeccable service... thanks to Luigi, kind and helpful, ready to meet our needs. Thank you very much to everyone!

Simply disastrous experience from start to finish. We arrived in four adults, a two-year-old and a three-month-old. Already at the entrance we understood the level: with children in their arms and strollers to lift up a step, the gentleman at the door looked at us without lifting a finger. No smile, no help, no nothing. Once seated, the waiter tells us about the “set menu” without being able to explain what it really included. We ask him what vegetables were planned and he vaguely repeated “cold cuts, cheeses and vegetables”... without knowing what these blessed vegetables were. The second “entrecotte with potatoes”: actually a thin slice cut into strips. For the baby we ask for a pennetta with tomato: it arrives after the appetizers, with an unexplained delay. We order the house wine: we are told Aglianico “bottled”... Too bad that a bottle already opened arrives, and at the time of the bill we find two bottles at 14 euros each, not even open in front of us. The appetizers were embarrassing: 2 slices of ham counted, 1 of Capocollo, 1 of bacon, 2 tiny pieces of cheese, a very hard focaccia, a pan with chickpeas, peas and bacon passed off as “vegetables”. We ask for vegetables on the menu: the waiter first pretends not to understand, then walks past without answering. A waitress, more honest, tells us that another pan was missing but... it was not on our menu. At the end they bring us a taste of Parmesan “please”. Meanwhile, the newborn's mom has to change the diaper: the bathroom is closed. Wait 15 minutes on your feet to get a key. That's crazy. The first courses with meat sauce were to be forgotten: burnt sauce. L’entrecotte, as mentioned, a slice cut into strips with potatoes with skin hard as stones. At the end they ask if we want dessert, let's say that the menu was provided with cantucci. The waiter denies it. When we go to pay, no one asks for coffee or bitter. Final bill: 210 euros. And, after paying, we point out to the gentleman at the checkout (probably the owner) that the service was bad. Instead of listening, he reacts with a knowing air and calls the waiter who begins to contradict us on everything, even saying that he had brought the Parmesan (which is false). They offer us the cantucci “to take home”, as if we were starving. Obviously rejected. We went out to get sweet and bitter in a serious bakery, since here they didn't even bother to ask us. Conclusion: The structure is nice, but not enough furniture to make up for the total lack of professionalism, courtesy, organization and quality of food. Ridiculous portions, embarrassing service, absolutely disproportionate prices. A place that, in my experience, I wouldn't recommend even to my worst enemy.
