Hotel Central Park Terme

Hote review I’ll list the positives first. The bar man/lifeguard and the morning kitchen staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was decent, with an okay mix of pasteries, fruit, cereals and some limited hot food. Location is excellent, 5-7 minute walk into the town at most. On to the negatives. Front of house staff could not be ruder and unhelpful. I took everything with a small pinch of salt as I understand English is not their first language, but they were incredibly unhelpful. We shared our thoughts on our standard room which did not look anything like what you’re shown in the pictures. On booking.com they used the same 4 pictures for every room type. VERY MISLEADING. We thought we were getting a room with a balcony (given the pictures shown on the website you’d believe that too), but alas, no balcony. When we mentioned this the lady at reception shrugged her shoulders and told us we booked an “economy room” and she could move us and we would have to pay more. The room was very small and claustrophobic, especially when the aircon is non existent. The bathroom felt like a damp sauna 99% of the time. The shower hadn’t been cleaned during our stay, the doors on the shower had stained water mark residue all week and the doors themselves were broken. The room was “serviced” every day, but this left a lot to be desired. The bathroom soap and shower gel were not refilled once over an 8 night stay. It was hard to tell if the floors were ever swept as the shedded skin of a local lizard was present in the room for 3-4 days. The used glasses in our room hadn’t been changed once. On day 4 of our stay, the wifi stopped working on our side of the hotel. Which was never fixed, and we’re barely got an apology for it: The fridge in the room didn’t work either, it actually made drinks warmer. We were told we are not allowed to pay for drinks we ordered at the bar or the towels we rented, and would have to wait until we checked out to settle the bill. Also when we settled our bill, I shared the issues once again and without me mentioning of discounts from the bill, they jumped down my throat to say they can’t give discounts or make changes, and it was what it was. They told me I can go make a review if I want. We found out through another complaint online that the hotel has an affiliation with a local beach club for seats there, and also for the Ferragosto holiday celebration, there was a gala in the hotel on Friday 14th. We were not made aware of this until we saw the staff setting up tables, balloons, champagne etc. It would have been nice to be made aware of this event as it could have been nice to go to, or even as guests of the hotel to be told. Absolutely crazy when I think about it. Honestly not good enough from a “4 star” hotel, which cost a fortune (€1,700 for 8 nights for 2 people by the way) considering what we got. I feel like a hotel for half the price would have delivered more.

Thank you for the lovely stay. Half-board food is great. Breakfast has a lot of variety and dinner has several courses. Choose between fish or meat, or vegetarian. Michelin-starred restaurant for several years. Most guests are Italian. That is why you go to Italy, to soak up the flair. Hotel is clean, looks good, with a very nice pool area, thermal spa, sauna, and Kneipp bath. Treatments and a doctor on-site. Very friendly staff who also think ahead. The pool doesn't cool down, that's just how it is. In return, you can take cool showers everywhere and sunbathe. Despite being close to a road, you only hear the splashing of the waterfall. Location was great, living in the city and everything within walking distance. Bus in front of the door with connections to the whole island. Harbor for excursions on foot 10 min or bus 4 min.

What a wonder the Central Park hotel is!!! Courteous and attentive staff, excellent cleanliness of the rooms and common areas. The outdoor pool is fantastic, immersed in greenery and surrounded by lemon trees. A small paradise right in the center of Ischia Porto, just steps away from the main streets for strolling and shopping. The cuisine is a real strong point: three choices of first and second courses for both lunch and dinner, featuring refined and quality dishes. The restaurant team is commendable for their kindness and availability. The best hotel in Ischia where I have stayed so far.
