Hotel Oriente

We stayed at this hotel for a week while on holiday and found the location and services great. The hotel is perfectly located for the train station which is a short ride away from Sorrento in one direction and Naples and Pompeii in the other. It’s also extremely central to Vico Equense which has several exceptional restaurants just a short walk away. The hotel overlooks the cliff side and has stunning views of the scenery. While the hotel doesn’t have a pool, we found the private beach was perfect for us. Each day, you are provided with sun loungers and an umbrella free of charge, as well as the option to book the shuttle to take you to and from the beach. While the walk is steep, it doesn’t take very long and we opted to walk most days. The walk back is much more manageable if you go up the steps and through the car park, which takes you to the back entrance of the hotel. There is an option to reserve the jacuzzi at the hotel, which looked beautiful, however, we did not have time to make use of this. We found everything in the hotel very clean and the air conditioning in the room was excellent. The staff were kind and attentive. The breakfast buffet is basic but there are more than enough options of hot and cold options for everyone. We didn’t make use of this every day as we wanted to try as many food places as possible but enjoyed it on the days we did. We found our room quiet, and while the hotel is near to roads, we did not find that we were disturbed by this. Overall, this hotel was a great option in a quiet and beautiful town. It is great as a base for exploring locations such as Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, however, it is equally a beautiful town to stay in itself. While we travelled across several towns and areas, we found the best and most authentic food was served in Vico Equense itself. Great hotel and excellent value for money!

Escaping the stifling heat of the city, my husband and I enjoyed a rejuvenating break at the Hotel Oriente, finding a welcoming environment and courteous, efficient staff. The rooms are clean and bright; the breakfast is healthy and delicious; the dishes are gourmet! On the evening of Ferragosto, we had an experience we will remember for a long time due to the refined menu based on very fresh fish: a crown of Mazzara shrimp on a bed of exotic fruit; paccheri with a very fragrant scorpion fish sauce; crusted amberjack with a medallion of baby spinach with raisins and a potato cake; and to finish, a rich buffet of fruit and desserts (babà, tarts, lemon delights on a salted caramel crumble; ricotta semifreddo), I wouldn't know which one was the best! Everything was accompanied by excellent wine and enlivened by live music to appreciate the pleasantness of the place even more. A special thanks to Teresa, who with vigilant grace oversaw the timing of the kitchen and coordinated the dining room service.

I was on vacation for 10 days, I found everything great. Kindness and courtesy can be found everywhere, from the housekeeper to the driver of the shuttle , all ready to listen and meet our requests. The breakfast is varied and excellent, the desserts are produced directly by the pastry chef of the hotel. Dinner is divine , with first-rate produce . The guys at the reception all nice and sympathetic, a big applause to Claudio , the very attentive manager. The super nice waiters, led by the maitre d' Giuseppe, always kind and helpful. The owners are always present to super view with kindness and friendliness and always ready to listen. The mid-August was beautiful and the view is breathtaking. Recommended
