Relais Villa Abbondanzi

A Fabulous experience. They specialize in seafood but have other options on the menu. The wine list is the best local selections from all of Italy. Marco was an excellent, knowledgeable and welcoming Captain. Massimiliano, a wonderful and extensive knowledge of the wines. All wait persons were attentive and friendly. Had the Tuna tartar accompanied with an Orange white wine from Abbazia San Giorgio. Perfect Had a pasta course with Tortellini Barrata in a sausage Ragu accompanied by a local Sangiovese. Delicious. Then the main entree, the fish of the day with white fish, Shrimps, a stuffed Prawn, Squid and a side of grilled vegetables. The dessert was their signature Cinque Cucchiai. A Chocolate Mousse with whipped cream accompanied by a local dessert wine reminiscent of Sauternes. Unbelievable! A well known restaurant and resort in Faenza to the locals. Come here to the SpA, pool and definitely the restaurant for a memorable experience. They even have flamingos in their pond on the property!

We were not allowed to stay at the Relais. Why? We have two dogs. Medium-large size. The policy provides for one dog per room, possibly of small size. Being a couple, it would not have made sense for us to get two separate rooms, but rather to get one, perhaps larger, and pay an extra fee for cleaning costs. We were told that if it had been possible, they would have offered it to us. We invited them to review this policy and were told that there are rules. 'Ma'am, in your job, do you not have rules to follow?' Not knowing what I do and how I manage my work, I found this question inappropriate and personal. Reception service not suitable for a 4-star hotel and the indisputable beauty of the residence we had to give up. Advice: either you are pet friendly or you are not. Dogs yes or dogs no. Only one dog and of small size makes no sense. The welcome at the 5 cucchiai restaurant was different, where we found very kind staff who dedicated a corner table to us, far from other diners, where we ate excellent raw fish accompanied by an excellent bottle of champagne, and where the sommelier even took the time to take us on a short tour of the garden, telling us the history of the residence and letting us discover the true masters of the experience: the pink flamingos. I imagine that the gentlemen at the restaurant and those at the hotel are paid by the same person, whom I invite to reflect. Greetings

On our trip to the Marche region, we made a 4-day stopover in Faenza. We hit the jackpot with the Hotel Villa Abbondanzi. Reception friendly and helpful. Room excellent with a large balcony. Pool super, and what topped it all off was the restaurant. This stood out with its outstanding fish cuisine. The service was able to live up to the cuisine in every respect. We will be back!
