A Testaccio da Max

Max cancelled our reservation about two hours before we were set to arrive, while we were in the air. He did it because we couldn't meet him exactly when we were supposed to because our flight was delayed by one hour and "he had to go to work." After that he blocked me on Whatsapp and didn't answer any calls. So we arrived in testaccio at 7:30 PM in peak vacation season with suddenly no room. I would not recommend anyone chance the situation where you are stuck with no room. And that's what you risk with Max. Truly a horrible host. It was pure luck we found something else that was similarly convenient for our trip.

We chose to spend the first 5 days of our honeymoon at Max's since we were travelling around Italy and wanted to spend less money on accommodation so we had more to spend on nice dinners, sightseeing and all the travelling. I saw a some really nice reviews up front and we weren't disappointed. Max is really friendly and speaks English. Our room was large with a private bathroom and a window towards the backyard. There's a TV in the room and we got room service every day (and got our linen changed once during the 5 days) and he asked us every day when we would like our breakfast and was there to make coffee for us. Breakfast is included. Testaccio was a great place for us as first timers to Rome since it's not touristy but still central, and Max's b&b is really close to many bus lines like nr 83 and 170 that go to very central locations. Emporio is also close and you can get the tram from there and a lot of other buses, including one to the Vatican area. If you're looking for a budget stay in Rome we would definitely recommend this b&b

I enjoyed my two-week stay with Max. He keeps very clear communication and makes himself available for questions and amiable chatting. His B&B is a little off the main streets so you have a more authentic neighborhood experience vs the tourist hot-spots. His room was clean and I particularly found the mattress comfortable. I will definitely check his availability the next time I come to la citta eterna.
