CasaCau

We stayed at CasaCau to celebrate my father’s retirement. We really loved our stay and will be recommending to everyone we know. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. It is centrally located near many attractions. Having breakfast delivered to our door every morning was the sweetest touch. We had a magical time in Rome and a big part of that was CasaCau and team.

Booked through World of Hyatt. Ahead of my stay, Hyatt reached out to ask about mattress/pillow preferences, so I selected from their list, which they then forwarded to CasaCau. The owner, Pino, said he only had two pillow types and one mattress type. I told him that was completely fine and to proceed with the reservation. He then tried to refuse my reservation anyway -- citing that CasaCau has no lift, no reception, and no room service, none of which I ever asked for or needed. He made assumptions about what I could handle based on a health disclosure and refused to honor a confirmed booking over it. This isn't a case of a property genuinely being unable to accommodate a request -- I never made one beyond the pillow/mattress questions Hyatt itself asked. Disappointing and discriminatory treatment of a guest. Would not recommend, especially to anyone with a disability or health condition.

Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing accommodations I’ve ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the property was not maintained. The entryway to the building was dirty, with floors that appeared black from grime. Inside the apartment, the lighting was so poor that we had to unplug a lamp from the living room and move it between the bathroom and kitchen just to see. The apartment showed significant signs of neglect. The walls were dirty, scratched, and in need of painting. The furniture was not charmingly vintage or intentionally distressed—it was simply worn and in poor condition. The headboard appeared to be made from an old wooden kitchen hood, and the wood was deteriorated and unattractive. The bathroom towels were paper thin and well below the quality expected for this type of property. The kitchen sink consisted of what appeared to be a plastic bucket with a drain attached, which was surprising for a property positioned as a premium accommodation. The shower was broken and extremely small, making it difficult to use comfortably. The most concerning issue occurred on our final night when we discovered a large live cockroach in the bedroom. These were not isolated maintenance issues but reflected the overall condition of the property. While we completed our stay, relocating during an international vacation would have been disruptive and expensive. Instead of looking forward to returning to our accommodations after a day exploring Rome, we found ourselves dreading it each evening. Rome is an incredible city, but unfortunately, our accommodations did not reflect the quality we expected from a Hyatt-affiliated redemption.
