Flora B&B

A lot of reviews on the internet like to give this place a bad name, but I honestly found it amazing for such a cheap hotel, especially in central Rome. I was on the first floor of the b and b, and to my surprise, my room had wifi...sure the view to my room was terrible but to live quite central in Rome was so worth it. A walk away from the Colosseum, Camp d'Fiori, Piazza Navona, Vatican City was all worth it. Definitely ask the hotel for directions as Roma is like a maze. I actually loved coming back to this place, it just added to the tourist feel. However, if you're looking for a romantic getaway and you're not the backpacking, eloping type of couple I would not recommend it, as the bed duvets feel like sandpaper and the rooms are quite small. Just remember that it is called POMEZIA HOTEL. Not Flora, as the Italian people don't know it as this, and the signage is Pomezia too. The receptionists were very helpful too, even though he sent me to the wrong beach ( I wanted to go to Sperlonga, but he thought I wanted to go to Lido di Roma, which resulted in me losing hours in a day, getting attacked by pickpockets, lost in Italy somewhere, and stuck in Travestere on the way back, as there was a strike where we were staying and the bus took an alternate route without telling the passengers, and mentally drained the night before I was going home) but it all added to the experience I suppose!

We stayed for 4 nights and have absolutely no complaints. Don't get me wrong, it's not the Ritz and don't expect a luxurious honeymoon suite :). BUT the hotel (which it is = Pomenzia hotel) offers the best location in Rome. We were literally in walking distance of all major attractions. The rooms are a bit run down but very importantly they are clean (and kept clean with daily house keeping), have working air condition, decent bathroom (OK shower, toilet, hair drier etc.). The area and the small old town streets are very nice and you are spoiled with choices for restaurants and deli shops - Campo Di Fiori just around the corner (would not reccoment for 30+ at night at it is a hot spot for tourist trap-bar and resturants and US teens spending a semester in Europe. But you find amazing restaurants and shops in the side streets of campo De Firori though, so that is def. worth exploring. We didn't experience any loud noise issues at the hotel and we're in our mid thirties, so I would consider it unfair to call it a backpacking/young/noisy hotel. Staff are friendly but we didn't have any need to have a lot of communication with them thou - things worked fine so it was mostly "helly, good buy" that kinda thing :) This is an absolute adequate hotel for the travelers who "just" need a comfortable base in the heart of rome at a cheap price without compromising on cleanliness and standard comfort. For more special occasions (romance) I would probably go a bit more up-scale thou :)

I thought I was booking a small B&B in the center of Rome. It turned out that the only thing about the hotel listing that was accurate was the location (which was great). To start, the name of the hotel was not the same. The hotel has 27 rooms, not just the 5 listed here. WiFi is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms and there was no climate control (and air conditioning is regulated to special times designated by the city of Rome). The room I stayed in was barely bigger than the size of the bed and the bathroom had very little ventilation.There was no refrigerator in the room and I didn't see a safe anywhere. Breakfast was fair, though there were no fruits or vegetables in sight. There was no communal kitchen. Most of the staff were friendly, but not a lot of English. The owner shouted at me and my sister when we reported something missing from the room and told us that it was not his problem and we should leave because we were the problem. I cannot recommend staying here.
