The hotel looks completely different from what is published on images. It was realy hot in the room and the air conditioner did not work. the internet work only in the lobby. room gives an unpleasant feeling especially the shower. breakfast very basic and serve the same thing every morning. the good things are that the rooms are spacious for a family with 2 or 3 children and the location is perfect

We ended up at the Mayfair Residence because we were able to trade out one of our time share weeks. It was a little further out of the center of the city than we would of liked, but we still managed to walk to a few places in 15-20 minutes time. The room itself was HUGE! It was like a one bedroom apartment, and we loved having so much space. It was sparsely decorated and simple, but clean. The staff was amazing and eager to help answer questions or advise on places to eat etc.... They were very friendly and made you feel like a guest, opposed to just another traveler passing through. The breakfast each morning was decent, and just enough to get you started with your day. The atmosphere of the hotel is dim and it could use some updating, but it is clean, and the neighborhood was safe. We never felt uncomfortable. We walked many nights to the closer restaurants, and felt there was a decent selection. They do have wifi, but you really as many people mentioned need to be in the lobby in order for it to work. They also have a computer that you are able to use if needing to print out documents.

We just got back from a weekend in Rome and stayed at the Mayfair Residence Rome. Please learn from my mistake. I booked a triple room for my family and a single, king room for my brother who was visiting. I'll start with the pros:
1. On site garage parking for a relatively cheap 18e/night - beware the down ramp is extremely narrow as are the parking spaces, but again, you really can't beat the price for garage parking.
2. Location - about 10 minute walk to Hard Rock Cafe and 20-25 to Trevi Fountain.
3. For a hotel with decor from what looks like the 70's, it was clean.
Cons:
1. NO A/C! - 80+ degrees and they turned off their A/C for the season. Walking around Rome all day in 80+ degrees then walking into a sauna for a room makes for a bed evening. When I asked about it this is the response I received: "Maybe they do not turn it on until June. There is nothing we can do right now." Wow. I even showed him my reservation that said the rooms had a/c and heat which is what they advertise on their website. Anyway, huge disappointment there.
2. Beds - They belong in a hostel if they would even take them. The twin beds in our triple room and the two pushed together to make the king in my brothers were the equivalent of throwing a yoga mat and some sheets on your own floor and sleeping there. The pullout in the triple was worse. I don't think the mattress has been replaced since it was put in the room which looks like it was in the 70's sometime. It sagged on both sides and did nothing to protect you from the crossbars for the pullout. I slept sideways the second night in hopes that I wouldn't wake up with back pain every time I moved or didn't move for too long. Didn't work. Not a comfortable stay. For any of us.
3. The breakfast buffet. I put this under cons for two reasons: a. This is the only breakfast buffet I've seen in Italy without some kind of fresh fruit. They only had canned pears. b. I am a coffee drinker, the coffee served here was literally undrinkable. I couldn't make it past one drink which is rare for me since I love coffee.
In short, I will not stay here again nor recommend it. I will go to Rome several more times in the next three years and this will not be on my list of places to stay at.
