Mikale Rooms

We just coming from Naples and look for a night in Roma. The apartment was very clean and nice Italian breakfast in the morning. The guest was very friendly and give as some advice what to do in those days.

We were here almost for a week with my girlfriend. The position is very good, there are a lot of bus stops, underground in 500 meter area. When we arrived a lady was there. We tried to communicate but she cant speak in english so she used Google translate. The room was clear and nice but smaller then expected, the breakfast is eh.. Small, not worth to buy. The main door has problems so once we almost cant enter the rooms at midnight. WiFi is good and fast.

Stayed here 1st - 4th October 2017 with our 13 year old daughter. Firstly, the B&B itself is contained within a large block of apartments, so there is no sign as such, just 'MIKALE ROOMS' on one of the little buzzers on the wall outside. We had told them we would arrive at approximately 6pm, but we actually got there at 5.30pm - and there was nobody there. I had to ring the owner who said he would send the manager around to let us in. Manager arrived about ten minutes later, she was very nice - except she only knew about three words in English, and I only know about twelve words in Italian, so much gesturing, pointing, and sign language ensued. The room was clean - can't fault it. But, think 'student accommodation'. The tea making facilities were in a kitchen that served all the B&B rooms, it is also where the breakfast was. Breakfast being a random assortment of food in a fridge, and a basket filled with cheap croissants (The kind you buy in Tesco with a three month use by date). It was odd - but not really worth complaining about. When we arrived I asked about paying our bill - pointing at my credit card and saying Pay? This got me two of her English words: PAY BOSS. There was no boss around so we went out for the evening. On our return there was a Post-It note in our room saying we had been sent an invoice via email to pay our bill. Unfortunately I couldn't pay it this way as whatever system they were using demanded your postcode, but then only gave you options for numbers. I messaged BOSS who was really nice and friendly and said I could pay cash no problem. Ultimately I left the cash, in an envelope, in our room and sent a text message to BOSS for him to collect. We went out, he collected, and bless him even gave us the change back. Never laid eyes on the guy - but he was helpful and friendly at all times via messages! As I say - odd little place. It is a nice location, 5 minute walk from Ottaviano Metro station and maybe 10 minutes from the Vatican. Lots of nice restaurants and bars around. The accommodation is acceptable, but it literally felt like having the spare room in somebody's flat - I have definitely stayed in better apartments in Rome. I personally wouldn't use them again, but neither would I recoil in horror if someone said they had booked here - just possibly maybe brush up on your Italian as my twelve words were insufficient. ;)
