Rifugio San Francesco

We returned after two years for the great location offered by the property as the beach is easily accessible for people with disabilities. Simple and clean environment, in the immediate vicinity there are all services. Highly recommended Date of stay: August 2024

I happened to be at the wrong time: work on 110 so a building with scaffolding that prevented the window from opening; very small bathroom without bidet; simple, do-it-yourself breakfast; ok it's only one star, you can't expect much, but a little better than that yes if nothing else it was quite convenient to the beach

I was taken to their 'annex' which is an apartment on a narrow crowded street. Positives: the room was large and the apartment was clean. Negatives: no one there but tenants and the breakfast was a keurig-like coffee machine and wrapped food. I found a very nice bakery near town. the annex is a couple kilometers from the nice town center. Also, Ostia cabs really cost a lot. the 8 kilometer cab ride was 35 euro. I talked him down to 30 euro. this is higher than New York City. 48 euro can get you all the way to Rome center. I took the 1.5 euro bus back to the airport. that bus leaves from the train station and the B & B guy had the schedule. (Google maps does not have the schedule). Consider a hotel in Rome. the rip off taxi drivers make Ostia uncompetitive.
