We attended a four-day wedding celebration at this hotel with a large group, and unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The check-in process appeared inconsistent and showed clear favoritism. Most flights from the United States arrived during the early morning hours, and although a house keeping manager informed us that rooms were available, our check-in was intentionally delayed. We had also requested a specific floor more than a month in advance and received confirmation of that request, yet it was not honored. Meanwhile, other families in our group were granted early check-in and received rooms on the requested premium floor. Each time we followed up, it seemed that our room assignment was delayed even further. The concierge team was unable to provide many of the services typically expected from a concierge desk. Several staff members even mentioned that they did not have sufficient authority to assist guests effectively. We were also surprised that a very modest late checkout request of just 30 minutes was denied. This is a common courtesy offered by many quality hotels, and the refusal was communicated in a rude manner. The hotel's location was somewhat inconvenient, and the attitude displayed by some front desk staff made the overall experience even less pleasant. On a positive note, the restaurant and breakfast teams were exceptional. The food quality was outstanding, and the staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and professional. They were the highlight of our stay.

We stayed at Rome Cavalieri for two nights after disembarking from a Mediterranean cruise, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The hotel has a very different feel from staying in the historic centre of Rome. It is set slightly away from the busy city, on higher ground, with a resort-like atmosphere and beautiful views over Rome. For us, this was exactly what we wanted after a week of travelling with family. It felt calm, spacious and restorative. Our room was very comfortable, with a lovely Rome view. The sense of space, the quiet setting, and the overall grandeur of the hotel made it feel like a proper end to the trip rather than just a convenient city hotel. My wife particularly liked the property. The location may not be ideal for travellers who want to walk out directly into Rome’s historic streets, restaurants and sights. You will generally need taxis. But if you are looking for a quieter, more elevated base — especially after a busy trip — the location works very well. It was also convenient for us because we were attending the Italian Open at Foro Italico. Service was professional and the overall atmosphere was classic and polished. The hotel feels established rather than trendy, which suited us. It has that old-school grand hotel feeling, with space, views and a sense of occasion. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. For a short Rome extension focused on rest, tennis and a little decompression after a cruise, Rome Cavalieri was exactly the right choice.

Stayed here years ago and the hotel is still fabulous. The property is situated high on a hill with lovely views of Rome. Surrounded by magnificent gardens and mature trees, it is indeed an oasis away from the heat and crowds of central Rome. The property boasts a large swimming pool with poolside restaurants, including one that prepares pizzas in a wood burning oven every evening. For those wanting to venture into the city, it’s a 10 minute taxi ride to the Vatican and about 15 minutes to the via dei Condotti and Spanish steps. I always go into the city in the morning for coffee and sightseeing, have lunch at a local restaurant then escape the madness and crowds of the city and return to the serenity of the hotel around 3:00. Once back, I relax by the pool and order room service, which is always great, for dinner. While some say the hotel and furnishings are dated, I disagree. The hotel, built in 1962, has a wonderful “Dolce Vita” vibe to it and the furnishings are very fitting and well maintained. The staff from check in through out our stay were all very kind and efficient. In terms of comparative costs, I paid around $800 US per room, which is very reasonable compared to other 5 star hotels in central Rome that can start in the $2,000 per night range. All in all, it was another great stay at the Cavalieri and I highly recommend the hotel.
