The courtyard and the atrium inside are the best things about San Jouan Guest House. The courtyard is so much smaller than it appears in the photos. Our room was dark and dank, and the bed sheets seemed damp to the touch. Our bathroom so tiny, we could barely turn around. They provided no wash cloths and only 2 bath towels for two people staying for 3 days. What can I say? Not good.

Easily missed behind a grey metal gate, behind you get a small courtyard. We had a superior room that was well appointed and clean. Before we arrived i had a whatsapp message from Nestor checking on what time we would arrive etc. We did not go for the breakfast as Nestor pointed out the nearby bakery (40m) and supermarket a bit further. Negatives- the shower (no bath) had very little pressure so not great. It wasnt the warmest either. A bit more storage for clothes..... BUT THATS IT. The room was a nice size and we had a small kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge freezer. All new and clean. We had a couple of bottles of water and a variety of tea/coffee, sugar etc provided. A great price once you included the city tax, 15 minutes away from the colosseum and ancient Rome. There is two Metro stations closeby that could get you to the vatican and other places for as little as 1.50E. Thankyou Nestor for the information and easy stay that made our trip trouble free.

The B&B is situated in a great location, approx 10 min walk from the Colosseum. We booked a Superior Room, the room itself was pretty basic... in most hotels I would have said this would have just been a standard room. It was however just what we needed for our short sight-seeing stay in Rome. The only thing I think the hotel could benefit from would be a bigger outside area to sit in the mornings/evenings, there are some tables outside but don't expect to get much sun because the buildings/walls surrounding the B&B are quite high. Make sure you visit I Buoni Amici, a restaurant a 2 minute walk from the B&B, it was recommended to us by the hotel owner and was a typical Italian, family run restaurant. They didn't speak much English but the food was delicious and they kept the wine flowing... also was really cheap !!!
