Vatican Palace

Vatican City is the most beautiful place I've ever been to. Worth the entire trip to Rome. Religious or not, a true must-see at least once in your lifetime. Lines were long but that's obviously to be expected. The gift shop had reasonable prices as well.

It's definitely worth a visit, but try and go early morning and avoid weekends as it gets very busy. Some great history here and the size of the buildings are outstanding. St. Peter's basilica is incredible.

The entire area around the Vatican City Palace is beautiful. Typically not a walking city but the hop on hop off is a good option to roam around Rome. Vatican City Palace is part of the tour and takes up a significant time. They usually have a carnival type feel around the palace. If you are lucky, you can see the Pope as well.
