Hotel Santa Maria

Nightmare stay! ...Obviously it is NOT true! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ​I wanted to start the review like that to give Vincenzo a taste of his own medicine! ​My friend Angela and I arrived at the Hotel Santa Maria in Chiavari on Saturday morning at 7:30, ready only to drop off our bags to fly to the beach. We walk in and there is Vincenzo to welcome us at the reception, who says to us: “Ah, Rosanna! The room is ready!”... dramatic pause... “It’s not true, obviously!”. This joke was enough to break the ice immediately and understand that, even if only for one night, we would have a great time! ​Although it was only a weekend stay (Saturday and Sunday), the welcome was fantastic. The hotel is a three-star hotel kept very well, super clean and with all the comforts you need. But the real strength is the energy of those who work there: a heartfelt thank you to the whole staff — Monica, Barbara, Lisa and Erinca —, and a warm greeting also to those we didn't have the chance to meet in person, but who contribute to keeping this beautiful place running with so much friendliness and helpfulness! ​And then, the real icing on the cake (for me obviously) at the refreshment/breakfast area: Giusy! From one Palermitan to another, we immediately started talking and laughing, giving each other a warm welcome that made us feel at home from the very first moment. ​During this short stay, they treated us as if they had known us for a lifetime, between a joke and a laugh at every turn. Room with worn carpet and a smell of dust, hair in the shower, cracked tiles in the bathroom, non-functioning room phone, plastic curtains from the 80s, on the railway side you can hear the train as if it were passing right next to the bed; unfortunately, the windows are very old wooden ones without double glazing. Just back, after staying 2 days in this hotel with my husband. Room with fabulous sea view , clean and equipped with all amenities: safe, TV with very large screen, hairdryer, toiletries. Also, very quiet even if it moves on ato road. Finally, the staff who cleans the rooms, very kind and professional, as well as the managers and staff at the reception. I will definitely be back.
