Rudeness and poor service: when tourism devalues the area. ​I have been visiting Tellaro for over forty years, it is my second home and I know every corner of the village. Last night, August 19, around 9:45 PM, I stopped at the Leondine bar to have a drink with my mother, kindly asking the owner (from whom I had actually already bought some water just a couple of hours earlier) if it were possible to have even just some chips or a small snack, having noticed some platters on the tables. ​The response was a peremptory and unpleasant: "We are not a restaurant" and a laconic "Anyway, there is a bakery right next door." No manners, no courtesy, just coldness and a total lack of respect towards those who ask for information politely.The most serious thing is not the lack of food, but the gratuitous rudeness and the total absence of professionalism. It is sad to note how certain businesses live solely on their location — knowing that in a small village like Tellaro the options are very few — exploiting tourism without minimally valuing the area or those who live there. ​Working in service requires grace and hospitality, qualities that seem completely absent here. I will obviously continue to love and visit my home in Tellaro, but I will carefully avoid leaving even a single euro to those who treat customers—whether they are residents or just passing through—with this arrogance. Sooner or later, even for those who work like this, the chickens come home to roost.

I am commenting on the experience at the bar of the Albergo delle Ondine, where I did NOT stay. The bar menu is extensive and suitable for having a snack at lunchtime. The portions are generous and rich. The service is attentive and quick. The atmosphere is very pleasant.
