La Casa di Gabriella

This property is an apartment in an old building. We had to meet the contact person outside the property @ 3pm and pay them cash for the room. The room was a big, clean & basic and had everything that we needed. We had to share the bathroom with another room, but that was not a problem for us. We were given breakfast vouchers & had to walk a couple of blocks to have this, but the breakfast was good & we enjoyed it. The property is in a noisy part of town, but that did not bother us. It is an easy walk up to the railway station. You get what you pay for!

The place is in a rough part of town, very noisy no one meets you to check in which sucks as you don't find out how to get your free breakfast. The guy who came to collect our money for the room the second night also helped himself to 500 euro from my bag when we were out to dinner. The room was clean but the shower was old plus no lights in the bathroom! I would not stay here unless you want someone going through your things to find money.

We should have read reviews before booking this place. We were under the impression that we were booking the hotel. What you are booking is a room in an apartment. There is no front desk or anyone to great you upon arrival or anyone to complain if something is wrong. There was no soap in the bathroom and just two old towels for a three night stay. But that is not the worst of it. Building is in a seedy part of town with a lot of loiterers around, which made us feel unsafe. But the worst is that all through the night there were screaming and laughing and shouting right under our windows. It was impossible to fall asleep. After a busy day walking around and exploring, a good night sleep is essential. Don't expect to get it here. We checked out as soon as the sun was up and checked into a lovely Hotel Genoa just a few miles away right in the historic center. I wouldn't stay in this place even if it was free.
