Albergo Astron

I've been here a number of times. It's ideally located next to the train and bus stations. Rooms are en-suite. However it has not been refurbished in the 15 years I've known it, the room stank of smoke and the shower was a luke-warm dribble. The receptionist stared at my wallet literally licking his lips as I paid. And as noted elsewhere, I paid over the listed prices. I'm not sure if this gouging is legal in Italy. Don't bother with breakfast, it's a coffee and vacuum sealed bun. There are good cafes at the end of the street. This place is not often full, unsurprisingly, but serves as a place to lay your head. However where possible, I will avoid in future.

Everything is old, my small room smelled of smoke, price was very high (€70) instead of the €40 that te hotel should have asked and was written on the price-list. I was lied to about: this is the last room. And had to take it, because of the 1000 Miglia Brescia was sold out. This three star place should not have more than1 star. If you have a choice, don't pick out this Albergo.

The Albergo Astron is very near the train station, so it is ideal for people stopping the night and moving on. It's certainly nothing special, but my room was big enough and the ensuite shower fine. Breakfast was again simple, but enough to start the day. It's an easy 20mins walk into the old centre (worth a look), but if you just want to get dinner nearby, there are one or two places near the station (the one I went to was called Pizzeria al mediterraneo and was certainly good and cheap enough for my limited budget). Quite a few people hanging around near the train and bus stations near where the albergo is located, but not especially seedy or dangerous in nature. It's nothing amazing but it was perfect for my needs!
