Garni Pegra

Unfortunately, we noticed a lack of professionalism regarding the hotel staff; upon arrival, the receptionist pointed out to us, as clearly specified on their website, that they have an agreement with a 10% discount at certain restaurants, but we dined at one of these restaurants which denied such an agreement. We brought the incident to the hotel's attention and the receptionist glossed over it!!! As for the rooms, they are very noisy as they are not soundproofed, and being near the street, you hear everything and do not rest well. Among the services there should be a minibar, but it is empty and actually unplugged. The property is dated, so the carpet in the room was also so-so, as was the bathroom. And finally, at 9:30, a service boy knocked on our door asking if we could leave so they could clean the rooms... we pointed out to him that check-out was at 10:30.

We had a very good time at the property and it is already the second consecutive year that we have come to you.

I would like to warn all customers of this hotel by telling this misadventure that describes the owner well. I arrive at the hotel on February 3rd, but unfortunately, after a few hours, around 8 PM, I happen to slip on the icy snow in front of the entrance, suffering a serious injury that forces me to resort to the care of the hospitals in Edolo and Esine for a double fracture. All this obviously puts me in the position of having to give up the continuation of the vacation and leave the hotel one day early. When it came time to pay the bill, the owner told me that, even though the reservation was one of those that could be canceled up until arrival, he could not discount the night I did not use, but that he could give me a voucher for a replacement night to be used within a year. I did not object and paid, including the unused night. Since then, I waited for months for the voucher to be sent to me by email, which in reality never arrived. On the eve of Ferragosto, I sent an email to the hotel to find out what happened to the famous voucher; I was told that they remember me and the night in question, asking me in what period I would like to use it. Three days passed, and on the evening of August 17, finding myself on vacation in Limone sul Garda, therefore in the same province of Brescia and at a reasonable distance, I sent a new email in which I asked if I could use the voucher on the night between August 20 and 21. Two days passed without a response; in the end, I decided to call: he answered, the owner who had played dumb until then. No, he told me, I cannot use the voucher in high season; we can talk about it in the low season. I pointed out to him that from Arezzo, where I live, it is senseless to come all the way to Ponte di Legno for just one night; he, being the boor that he is, hung up the phone on me without even answering. I point out to those who will read this review that the hotel, as it appeared from the internal site and the most popular booking portals, was not completely sold out and that a room equivalent to the one I had occupied in February before the accident was available, at more or less the same price. So the owner's double intent is clear: on one hand, to avoid honoring the debt to me during a period when he hoped to have paying customers and not ones to reimburse, and on the other, to use the voucher as bait to force me to return to his hotel for a period longer than just one day, with another paid stay. I leave any comment to you: if you are convinced that this should be the hospitality of a hotel, in this specific case a family-run hotel, feel free to ignore this story of mine. As for the hotel, I must say that despite my mishaps, it is a more than good facility, nice rooms with a terrace, well-heated in winter, and I presume cool in summer. The staff is kind, and the owner's mother, who alternates with him at the reception, is also very kind, even if the important decisions are made by her son. The lady, whom I thank, helped me organize a difficult return trip after the accident. The son, on the other hand, who was at the reception desk when I fell, only helped me get up and limited himself to providing me with the number of a private doctor who charged 300 euros just to leave his house. The rest, that is, the phone call to 118 which sent the ambulance with which I was then transported to the Edolo hospital, I had to do by myself, while the owner had already driven away, I presume to go back to his home. If this is hospitality...
