Hotel building is very attractive and exceptionally clean in all areas. Pool area is pleasant with plenty of sunbeds. Rooms are large and well appointed with good towels and linen. Housekeeping was excellent and the lady was very cheerful….but….. I have never stayed in a hotel with such miserable unhelpful staff. They are obviously not happy working there as they never smile even when you smile at them. They never greet you when yo go in but will respond if you greet them. Staff were quite reluctant to give help or advice about the area. We went to the tourist information office in the town who were excellent. Breakfast was just ok but many items were only there if you went down early. The three men at breakfast never smiled and just grunted when you ordered coffee. We gave up on going to breakfast as it was not a pleasant experience and they allow dogs in the eating area. We enjoyed breakfast in one of the many cafes in the town with pleasant happy staff and a good choice of food. There is construction work next door to the hotel and our room looked directly over the construction site. There is loud noise every day except Sunday from 7.30am. This goes on all day. Drilling, hammering, a large crane moving and dropping construction materials. This can be heard by the pool too. When we mentioned it to the lady on reception she just shrugged. We were there for a week and could not use our balcony. The once we did the construction workers were waving at us! The hotel is a beautiful building and so clean but it needs to be in a different area and with a new set of well trained staff! Needless to say we will not be returning!

Great hotel and experience, staff was kind and efficient

We stayed at Hotel Nazional for 9 nights. The location is excellent when visiting Desenzano. Rooms are lovely, beds very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and the pool is spotlessly clean with lots of sunbeds available. All the staff are extremely helpful with a special shout out to Enriqo and Lucas, so very nice. Would definitely stay here again.
