I recently stayed at Hotel La Nuova Rotaia in Gallarate. In the morning there was no hot water in my room. I let the tap run for quite some time, but it remained cold, which meant I couldn’t take a shower. I reported this immediately at reception. Later I received a response stating that they had checked multiple times and that there was hot water, therefore no compensation was offered. I found this disappointing, as a hot shower is a basic hotel facility. I do want to mention that the daytime staff were very friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. The room itself was otherwise fine. However, due to how this complaint was handled, my overall experience was negatively affected.

We spent two nights in this lovely hotel. Our room (407) was very neat. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was also very neat and tidy. The shower cabin was small. We looked out on the dirty courtyard. There were some kind of shutters that were on the outside of the window. If you wanted to open the shutters, you had to open the window otherwise it would stay dark in the room. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Because we had a late flight, we could store our luggage for a few hours. The breafast was very good. Lots of choice (like scrambled eggs, bacon, cookies, cake, pie, croissants, yoghurt, pancakes and so on). The staff would bring you coffee and tea. When we were there, there were only 8 tables in the small restaurant. Looked very cosy :) Location is great! Across the street is the trainstation of Gallerate. The only thing that bothered or worried us, were the vague people as soon as you stepped out of the hotel (drug dealers and so on). It felt not very safe. But of course the hotel can't do anything about that.
