Very nice Hotel, directly on the lake, very friendly professional staff, nice welcome. Spacious room with balcony, clean. we had 2 dinners at the hotel, excellent and friendly service. The breakfast is served on a terrace next to the lake. I can only recommend the hotel.

What was supposed to be a short, relaxing getaway with my daughter unfortunately turned into a rather stressful stay. There were simply too many small problems that, taken together, prevented us from really enjoying our three nights at Hotel Capri.
To be fair, the hotel's location and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The gardens are immaculately maintained and very inviting, exactly what one expects from a fairly expensive four-star hotel. Every morning I saw the groundskeepers carefully cleaning around the pool and lakeside, and the breakfast and bar staff were constantly ensuring that the tables, chairs, and floors were spotless. Their hard work certainly deserves recognition. The breakfast buffet was substantial, nicely presented and of good quality.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the rooms. At $440 per night, our room felt dated, tired, and drab, with furnishings and appliances that are clearly due for updating.
When making our reservation, we specifically requested a room on a higher floor. This request appeared to have been overlooked, as we were initially assigned a room on a lower floor. After reminding the staff member escorting us that we had requested a higher floor, we were shown a second room overlooking a construction site, which we declined. We were then offered a third room on a higher floor, which we accepted simply because we were exhausted after our journey and didn't want to continue moving from room to room.
Within minutes, however, we noticed that the room was extremely warm and had a stale, musty smell. We tried airing it out by opening both the balcony and room door, but of course the air conditioning automatically stopped working whenever the balcony door was open (which is understandable and commendable). So, we left the air conditioner running until bedtime, but it barely cooled the room. Both of us spent a very uncomfortable first night, waking repeatedly because of the heat.
That night, the night manager acknowledged that other guests had also complained about the weak air conditioning in the rooms.
The following morning we spoke with the day manager, who promptly arranged for a technician to inspect the unit. The technician worked on it for some time, released some air from the system, and explained that there was little else he could do. His adjustments did improve the situation somewhat, although the room never became truly cool and it was difficult to sleep at night. Every time we returned to the room, it felt warm, humid, and slightly musty.
What disappointed me was being told by the day manager that we were the only guests experiencing problems with the air conditioning, which directly contradicted what the night manager had told us the previous evening.
The following day another issue arose when the toilet began flushing continuously. Once again, the day manager reacted quickly and arranged for a plumber. The plumber informed us that the flushing mechanism needed replacing and, until then, advised us to "flush gently." The unit was replaced the following day and worked normally afterwards.
The bathroom presented another concern. The bathtub had exceptionally high sides, making it difficult to get in and out safely. There were no grab bars, and the surface was slippery. I found myself holding onto the heated towel radiator just to climb out of the tub without falling. For many guests, especially older visitors, this could present a genuine safety hazard.
Given the succession of problems, including a sleepless first night, we asked whether the hotel would consider a goodwill adjustment to our bill.
At checkout we were informed that a 5% discount had been applied.
However, we were also told that we had broken the toilet. That accusation was honestly quite shocking. My daughter and I are perfectly capable of operating a toilet normally, and the plumber himself had explained that the flushing mechanism required replacement. Being blamed for the problem left a very unpleasant impression.
Prospective guests should also be aware that the hotel is currently bordered by construction sites on two sides. A large crane overlooks part of the garden area. Although we were told that construction had paused for the summer, the crane was operating from time to time during our stay.
Our final surprise came after we had already left the hotel to return home. At checkout I handed back our key card, and the receptionist confirmed that everything was in order. While we were already in the taxi to the train station, the driver received a telephone call from the hotel asking him to request that we return a second plastic key card. Both the taxi driver and we found it surprising that guests would be contacted after departure over what amounted to an inexpensive plastic key card.
Overall, the beautifully maintained grounds and hardworking staff could not make up for what was, for us, a disappointing stay. At approximately $440 per night, I expected a room that was more comfortable and better maintained, along with a little more courtesy in how guest concerns were handled.

The Villa Capri hotel enjoys a breathtaking view of Lake Garda and Isola di Garda. It has a very pleasant large wooded park by the lake, with many comfortable lounge chairs equipped with cushions (it was never a problem to find free lounge chairs), and direct access to the lake for swimming or practicing water sports. There is also a beautiful pool, with lovely sofas by the edge. A pretty terrace that looks like a balcony over the lake is a superb, very romantic spot to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. At lunch and dinner, a daily menu is offered; we tested lunch and dinner, and it was very good. The service was friendly (special mention to the bubbly Federica!). The breakfast buffet is complete, but I found it rather poorly presented. There is no staff available except for a woman who manages the restocking but who does not speak to the guests... For hot drinks, it is up to you to manage with the coffee machine, so there is sometimes a wait. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large balconies. The decor is a bit dated. The Nespresso machine and the mini-bar, filled every day with small bottles of still and sparkling water, are very much appreciated.
