Hotel ibis Milano Centro

My first return to Milan since 2005, and first time for daughter. This hotel was exactly what we wanted and needed. Clean, practical, nice bar, simple restaurant food. Nightly happy hour we did not miss. Room was basic and clean, good water pressure, and enough room for us to spread out a little. Very reasonably priced, we were really off season First week of January. My agenda was to visit the Duomo, and look for the discount shop in that square that had men's close 20 years ago- Gone. :"( We walked on the roof with the statues in the rain. Spun our heels on Torito. (always so funny how many people are wierd about that). The second day visited Leonardo's Science Museum, very interesting, and a cute cat. Daughter's day for itinerary. Saw a swap meet on train tracks going home. Also visited the Basicilica of St. Ambrose! Really really old, like 200ACE. Last day was shopping Corso Buenos Aires where the affordable shops are, Since it was Jan. 6, everything was Saldi!! There are many restaurants a very short (5 min) walk from this hotel worth visiting, we enjoyed Ristorante Shangri-La, traditional asian restaurant, had Chinese, Thai, Sushi, something for everyone. Up the street there were a number of small Osterias we found Osteria Italiano we liked and went back two times. The staff at the ibis was really wonderful, great service like 4.5 stars. It was drizzling a bit and they had an umbrella rental. Our visit was 4 days, 3 nights, and this was a perfect place to be. Very close to the central station to make a train in the morning. If you are looking for a hotel with spa, many amenities, not go anywhere else, this is not it, but if you want a clean room, shower and nice bed, so you can leave on your own tours, refreshed, this is great.

Prices tend to skyrocket very quickly in Milan and this Ibis is no exception to the rule because I am used to paying that price in Novotels or Mercures which are still a notch above. But on this hot summer evening, I was happy to have a clean, functional, perfectly quiet, and above all, very well air-conditioned room!
