We only stayed for one night, but we would love to come back. It has a boutique feel. If you appreciate stylish details in the rooms, this is the place for you. It’s clear that extra thought has gone into making the place something more than just an ordinary hotel.

Lovely historic building in centre of Citta Alta/ Upper Town (Walled city) with the Medieval Tower of the same name as part of the hotel building. Tastefully recently restored/renovated with nice comfortable spacious room (after paying for an upgrade rather than get a status one, which they didn’t offer). Okay, limited breakfast was also included. No other food services are offered but plenty of restaurants very close by. Bathroom good sized and modern. Only drawback in the room was a lack of ANY English language channels on the TV, which also did not allow streaming from own device - a bit of a let down nowadays in an expensive hotel. Wifi was fine. Service was friendly and helpful. For a 4 star hotel it was expensive

I cannot say enough great things about the Gombit Hotel! From the pre-arrival communication, to the service provided by the front desk team, to the food we enjoyed with breakfast served in our room and the restaurant recommendations for dinner. When we return to Bergamo, we will choose this hotel again! This historic location, centered in the heart of the Citta Alta, is worth every penny. And because of it being in the Citta Alta, you are surrounded by historic charm, lending an air of mystery to the experience. My only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer. The room was clean, spacious and beautifully lit by the two-directional windows that were deep enough to sit in and watch the world go by. The bed was comfortable and if you are a pillow person (like we are), they were fantastic for a good nights sleep - even though you are on the Main Street, since most of the tourists leave in the afternoon, it’s so incredibly quiet. The mini-bar was generous and the coffee and tea options for “whenever” worked perfectly. And the shower?? Big enough for two people if you wanted, with a rain-shower head. Their choice of toiletries made with olive oil are delightful. So when you combine it with the robe, slippers, and toiletries, your shower becomes an experience, not just a way to freshen up. One of the reasons I chose this property was the location in the Citta Alta. I wanted to experience Bergamo at night, when the tourists were gone. I could envision myself after dinner, strolling the narrow, cobblestone streets, arm in arm with my husband and listening for the tolling of the church bells at 10pm. Once a call to let people know that the city gates were closing for the night and now a tradition.
