Hotel Desiree

Lovely hotel for a good price! Rooms clean and comfortable, slightly dated but good for your money. Atmosphere was relaxed and location quite central but away from main crowds. Hotel breakfast was amazing also. Staff attentive, however hotel manager standoffish and quite rude over dispute about check out times. We booked through hotels.com and the information available to us said check out was before 11am and we were not informed otherwise by the hotel that checkout was actually at 10am. The hotel manager knocked on our room and did not greet us with a hello before demanding that we were late to check out. Upon showing what our booking stated she rudely insinuated I was showing her a ‘very old image’ to which I proved to her it was not by opening and closing the application. She still did not believe what my booking stated and blamed it on being a third party website. She did not take any accountability or apologise for her mistake other than saying she would update the website. Slightly disappointing as we left on a sour note, but all other staff were absolutely lovely!

The air conditioning also wasn’t great at all, the plug sockets were too small to fit travel adaptor into them so had to charge my phone etc in a different area, the timed light switches in the public bathroom were very bad also

In a great location. In the middle of Jamaica beach & the historic old town. I would say the atmosphere was very quiet around the bar area. The rooms were lovely. Nothing to complain about. The staff were lovely, very smiley & kind. The pool was nice. Did sometimes look a bit dirty but that’s just my opinion. Only thing is they can be quite steep with what you get from the bar..They say they can’t fill up your bottles with tap water (one person did one night, so they can but choose to charge you for bottled water). They charge you for ice. My boyfriend asked for some ice to bring up to the room and it was €2. €2 for half a cup of ice. Now I’m comparing this to another hotel we stayed in around sirmione who didn’t charge for any of this & were happy to fill our bottles up so I was a bit shocked about the water situation and to get the bill at the end & see we got charged for ice. However, everything else is what your expect from a 3 star hotel.
