Hotel Il Melograno

Stayed at this small Hotel only one night with several friends. Location is just off a main road so you don't hear the traffic. Rooms are very clean & neat & at $190 Australian for a triple room with breakfast this was excellent value. Only a five minute walk to several restaurants including a small super market near by.

Really good location (only some noise from restaurant in front). Small, basic, lil bit outdated rooms in strange grey color. Nice balcony. Good shower. Helpfull staff (woman). Good free parking, good wife. Average breakfast - there was little bit of everything, but not very tasty...

We stayed in Il Melegrano, after a holiday in Le Marche region, as a stop-over on our way back home in The Netherlands. Il Melegrano is a run down place with small rooms and old furniture (the hair dryer is a collector's item, right out of the eigthies). Beds are not too bad. In the morning, before breakfast starts, entrance to the lobby is blocked by a sort of roll-up door, which seems very unhospitable. All in all, it needs a renovation badly, also taking the prices in account. In comparison with the same price we paid at a agriturismo in Le Marche, service and amenities were way less than we got there. Maybe that's because Sirmione is awful touristy, hordes of people roaming the streets, where service is low and prices are high. Our advice: give Il Melegrano and Sirmione a miss.
