We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and honestly don’t understand the many negative reviews. Everything was absolutely fine during our stay. Our triple room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The surroundings are beautiful, the staff were kind and helpful, and the bar has lovely live music and wonderful cocktails. One of our favourite things was having breakfast in the dining room with its beautiful view of Lake Como. It was such a lovely way to start the day. The breakfast had a great variety of delicious food, with plenty of choice for everyone. The location is also perfect for exploring Lake Como. The boat station is directly opposite the hotel and there is a bus stop right next to it, making it very easy to get around and visit the surrounding towns. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!

Set in an ideal position overlooking the lake but that is all it has going for it. We had the tiniest room with twin beds crammed in. Only one bedside table no room for one opposite as fridge was there. We could find only one in the bathroom which charged phones and our kettle which we took. There were some charging slots each side of the beds but they never charged anything. Our air conditioning upside down a cable from fuse box went round door and was left hanging with tape round it. Curtains were too long and left draped on desktop. Our view was fire escape and could just see swimming pool . Food was poor and only good thing clean towels every day and room clean.

I feel sorry for anyone who has written to say this is a good hotel. If they think this place is GOOD I wouldn't like to go where they think is poor! But perhaps they didn't have the misfortune I had to be travelling with a tour group - in my case Leger . But speaking to other guests travelling with Riviera and Newmarket were of the same opinion as me. It was dreadful. I paid £700 extra for single occupancy of a lake view room. The room was OK quite large. The bed was awful. Mattress like a concrete plinth. The girl cleaning the room was excellent - and was rewarded with a large tip. The biggest issue was the food. The appetiser was the same almost every evening. That was self service. But the primi and secondi and dessert were served at table by a team of Sri Lankan waiters . To my knowledge only one Italian waiter who made coffee. The expresso machine did make good coffee. The ONLY plus. The boys from Sri Lanka did a great job but it was hardly an Italian atmosphere. There was NO atmosphere - it was like a cafeteria. 168 people had to be served at table. I actually counted 7 tables in a row 2 people at a table. 12 rows of tables. By my maths thats 168 people . All to be served at the table. So much easier to have a buffet - but my impression was in this mean spirited place we might have taken too much food. ! The food was all in large containers under a lid. I went up to the counter and asked to see the food before making a choice ( first evening ) but an extremely bossy young woman told me the area was for staff only. I wasn't allowed to see what I might have ordered. She was an unpleasant woman. We had paid according to Leger ALL INCLUSIVE. This turned out to be a bread roll a bottle of water and a piece of fruit as a packed lunch - but only if you went out on a trip in the coach. There was no lunch if you stayed at the hotel. The bread roll was lovely the contents inedible. The drinks were restricted and that didn't bother me as I drink very little. The one drink I did have was served in a tumbler - I have the same in my kitchen. I refused this and asked for a wine glass. I was told there weren't enough! So ' tour ' guests were treated as second class. All in all an awful experience.
