Hotel Royal

The 80s-style hotel has some pros: Located near the beach, breakfast with a good selection of sweet and savory items, very kind staff, and clean environments. A bit of modernization of the property would help to freshen it up. The main problem encountered is that the hotel organizes evenings on its rooftop with disco music until 1:30 in the morning with a 'disco effect' inside at least the rooms on the 5th floor (and I assume other floors as well). With my son, who rightly said he was unable to sleep, I went down to the reception asking for explanations (as my neighbors did). I was told that they had the legal right to keep music at a high volume until 1:30 am. Faced with my objection that I was not making it a legal point, but one of disturbance to their own customers, I was basically told, in a kind tone, that I had to deal with it and that it was their right. This is a point that, in my opinion, they should have made known at the time of booking and not let the customer discover it once on-site.

The establishment has some issues. There are no Schuko outlets, the hairdryers in the rooms are old and do not work, and the curtains have holes. When you go to the reception to ask for a double outlet, you learn that there is only one for the entire establishment. The same applies to the iron, which may have already been requested and not yet returned. The indignant response at the reception was "it is not a mandatory service." For a 4-star hotel, however, it is absurd not to have a way to iron a shirt.

Everything perfect! Meals, room cleaning, hearty buffet breakfast, clean beach. To recommend. We will be back.
