Relais Sant'Uffizio

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at Relais Sant’Uffizio, and what impressed us most was not simply the beautiful property, its setting or facilities, but something much more difficult for any hotel to achieve: an exceptional culture of hospitality. I spend more than 160 nights each year in Four Seasons hotels around the world as an Elite Guest, so hotels inevitably form a considerable part of my life. I mention this only because, after experiencing so many excellent properties and service cultures, it takes something quite special to leave a genuinely different impression. Sant’Uffizio did. Throughout our stay, from front of house to those working quietly behind the scenes, there was a remarkable consistency of warmth, empathy, professionalism and genuine kindness. Nothing felt scripted. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, proud of what they were doing and naturally inclined to make their guests happy. Shortly before we left, after checking out, General Manager Andrea Greggio went out of his way to meet us personally so that we could say our farewells. Our conversation gave me a fascinating insight into something I had already been observing throughout our stay. Andrea struck me as a leader in the true sense of the word. His personality, extraordinary work ethic, empathy, understanding of people and his philosophy towards both work and life came through very clearly. He leads not simply because of his position, but by example. Suddenly, the culture we had experienced throughout the hotel made complete sense. Andrea seems to be both the core and the magnet of Sant’Uffizio, and somehow the whole team resonates with the same warmth, energy, humanity and commitment. Beautiful hotels are not particularly difficult to find. Beautiful hotels filled with people who make you genuinely feel something are much rarer. The best General Managers create standards. Exceptional leaders create a culture. Andrea Greggio has created a culture at Sant’Uffizio. We left with enormous affection for the hotel and its people, and we very much look forward to returning.

Wonderful setting immersed in the vineyards where we have been returning for almost three years to spend unforgettable moments welcomed by staff who are always very courteous regarding the relais, the pool, the SPA, the bar and the restaurants.
