Hotel CalaCuncheddi

Had a nice time away from the hustle and bustle. 3 nights was enough though as there’s nothing anywhere near to walk to so cabs or a hire car is probably needed for any longer. The hotel is good and the staff are superb. The nearby beach is lovely as was the food in the main restaurant. Our only gripe was the fact that the holiday was pushed by BA as a romantic couples hotel but it was full of screaming children. That wouldn’t have been a problem had there not only been the one pool. The lady that did the yoga class was excellent.

I knew the property, as I had been there during the same period in 2021, but I noticed a radical change for the worse this year. Nothing to say about the cleanliness or the kindness of the staff, but a big flaw is the very poor menu with few choices and many extra charges, and given the not exactly cheap cost, I expected more. The change in management did not work for me, so I will definitely not return.

We stayed at the Cala Cuncheddi from August 10 to 18, expecting an experience worthy of a 4-star Superior Hotel. Unfortunately, some aspects of the stay were far below expectations. The beach does not correspond, in our opinion, to the one represented in the hotel's photographs and to the one we expected from Sardinia. Furthermore, it is not adequately equipped with a bar and restrooms. We also noted that people from outside the hotel can purchase daily use of the property's umbrellas and beach spots, something we consider inconsistent with the level of exclusivity we expected. Even more disappointing was the management of the reception and the room. Upon our arrival, we were assigned a room that did not correspond, in our opinion, to the one booked. We actually had the proof and the photographs present in the booking voucher. The front desk manager, instead of proposing a concrete solution, maintained that the room was equivalent, suggesting we look at other rooms identical to ours. After requesting explanations and a solution again, a front desk colleague walked away, while the other colleague even knelt before us to "ask for our forgiveness." A situation that we found surreal, inappropriate, and absolutely unprofessional. We would have expected listening, clarity, responsibility, and above all, a concrete solution. The room on the third floor, reachable only by stairs, also represented an inconvenience. On the morning of our departure, no staff was available to help us with our luggage, and we had to carry our suitcases down the stairs ourselves. This is also a service that, in our opinion, should be guaranteed in a 4-star superior hotel. The truly positive note, however, is the cuisine, which is excellent and features rich, well-curated menus every evening, but above all the restaurant staff, who were impeccable: attentive, thoughtful, kind, and professional. A special commendation goes to Simone and the maître d' Alessandro, who represented the true vision of customer service. For them, serving does not simply mean bringing a dish to the table, but taking responsibility for making the guest feel welcomed, heard, respected, and at ease. Constant attention, listening to needs, attention to detail, availability, and the ability to intervene with discretion are what set them apart. This is the true value of hospitality: not just serving, but making the customer feel truly considered. Our sincere thanks go to Alessandro and Simone! In conclusion, the Cala Cuncheddi has great potential and excellent cuisine, as well as a dining room team that represents a genuine added value. However, our experience was penalized by the front desk management, the room issue, the lack of luggage assistance, and the beach management. We hope that management can work on these aspects, because a property of this level should guarantee consistency between what is promised, what is sold, and the experience actually lived by the guest.
