Casa D’aria is a superb lodging. We visited in January when the city is quiet but the service and attention was top notch. The interior is chic and artfully decorated in a Sicilian retro style. The public spaces have welcoming amenities like a cooler full of drinks, gratis expresso and cookies, and aroma diffusers. We had a problem with a water heater and help arrived in 10 minutes, including taking off his shoes when he entered, impressing my Japanese partner! Rates are reasonable and booking was smooth. Book directly to avoid fees. We will definitely stay again when we return to Catania!

Wow- I really do not understand the positive reviews here! We arrived on a Saturday evening and literally walked down the alley right next to the hotel and it was full of prostitutes. There is a gentlemans club next door that was loud all night long! We parked the car on the street a block away and literally 2 passerby warned us this was a bad neighborhood- we- 2 women- were afraid to walk any further than the block and parked anyway. The side mirror was broken in the morning. When you arrive it is very dark and you have to find the light switches in the common spaces to make your way in but they are on timers and quickly go dark again. In the room, the stairs to the loft area are steep and it is hot up in the loft/ sleeping area. There was not sufficient plugs to have both the lamp and my charger plugged in in the loft. We left early in the morning to get to the airport and we were in a hurry to get out. We stayed all over in Sicily including a different location in Catania and this is the only negative review.

Casa D'aria is a wonderful place to stay during a visit to Catania. The staff (especially the manager) are very kind and helpful. The owner is a wonderful person. My favorite apartment is Sole, nicely appointed with a quiet separate bedroom, living room, and kitchen as well as wonderful terrace big enough for 4 to 6 people; it includes a barbecue. This is my second stay at the hotel. Rates are reasonable and affordable. I have also stayed at the apartment located in the owner's residence. Although currently unavailable, this apartment is extraordinary and includes a large, rooftop terrace with excellent views of Catania. I highly recommend Casa D'Aria!
