Located in an ugly, dirty and scary side road in central Catania is this cosy 2 bedroom apartment. If, like us, you're not after frilly hotels but just a clean spot where to take a shower and sleep it's perfect. I personally was accompanied by 3 locals and felt quite safe, but should I have been on my own I would have surely felt a bit scared as the surroundings don't inspire much confidence. Having said that the main piazza is located minutes away on foot and so is the open market and the famous Via Etnea. The apartment has everything one needs for a couple of nights and is very clean. Owner is very helpful too.
