Hostel should evict vicious, violent and dangerous people like nearly all hostels, but even when they see the behaviour they dont. This marred my stay.I checked in here and most staff were pleasant. One lady was thoroughly helpful throughout my stay. Enjoyed the location and facilities until two women stayed in dorm. Then, for safety was forced to leave.
Location, and period building with ornate ceilings were fantastic. I knew there would be noise from music due to location, just like prague and other buzzing cities. Not an issue as i expected it. First lot of roommates were respectful and did not buzz or use handsfree phones. They turned off the light at 11pm and all was great. They were replaced by two shamima begum women who were horrid. Couldnt sit on balcony as they filled all the area with clothes, despite already using all of the room. So much sound from phones and loud talking from very late at night to nearly 2am multiple nights. Absolutely no respect and one of them was so extremely threatening that i had to call à staff member. Despite staff member seeing the aggression and prodding the air repeatedly millimètres from my head and chest, and despite the large woman telling me to go back to England, they were allowed to stay. I said not to do it and the person got more and more aggressive. Any other hostel where there was almost a fight and such aggressive behaviour to a guest they would have been told to leave. But here staff turn à blind eye. I was considering calling the police as it was that ferocious. Normally these peoples dont stay in mixed dorms and will stay in woman only dorm. But they stayed with a man guest in room and put all their belongings including underwear around the entire room using every hanger and unit and table. Air con was 25 degrees and it was so hot i turned it to 22 degrees and previously in the room it was agreed. These women said 'it was freezing' so turned ac to 27 degrees. It was insanely hot and too hot to relax to sleep. I put it to 22 degrees but staff said it must be kept at 25 degrees. Then the horrid women turned off the entire unit. Stupidly run hostel. Cant sleep as its way too hot, the noise from music i could tolerate, but not these nasties coming in and out banging lockers with délibération and laughing. Repeatedly opening balcony doors too. If you have any issues just call the police as staff dont want to intervene and protect customers. This is an unbelievably woke hostel. Far left like most of Catania and Sicily. Not protecting customers like me and supporting crime and bullies. In 150 countries never met such violent aggressive peoples staying in my dorm room before. Staff said different cultures are different. But thats just dangerous. Male staff said women were friendly to him? So are murderers and serial killers, no need to pretend everything is ok. In other countries the woman would of been eliminated by police for behaving this violently.
Hostel location is great, i missed most breakfasts as was out. Pasta was decent. Washrooms were vile. See though gaping doors from where doors were smashed in. See through key holes, unlockable doors, even for toilets. Corroded, rotten toilet seat, or missing seat. Sometimes no toilet paper from late morning until the next day. Sofa reeks and needs washing/replacement. Washrooms stink. Beds were rusty old frames that made a racket as well as savagely shaking. Curtains do not fit frames of bed at all and everyone can see in. Huge gaping holes
Lockers were nastily loud and were frequently banged and knocked and stuff thrown with force by the women in my room, along with deliberately from a great height emptying their bags on the ground at past 1am.
Beautiful sunny afternoon and a woman in lounge shuts the window doors blocking all light half the room only to turn on the artificial lights? Some horridly unhelpful staff on last night. African woman was unfriendly, unhelpful and particularly curt. Owner should choose nice staff with good customer service skills, like the majority of hostels I have frequented. And, Internet is awful. It cuts out extremely frequently either in room or lobby. Dont book this place due to location, as there are other places nearby and you might sleep. Cant sleep since they got here as its like a sauna and i am sweating profusely. When people want to claim the entire room with every single space used by these two people, and they want no ac on as they turned it off. They should get private room. I guarantee next customers will want ac, so it will be an interesting event. Also these two people want the main lights on until nearly 2am as they are not happy with the bright night lights attached to bed? Hope i never meet nasties like this again!
2 nights of deliberately making noise by these Indonesian women. Talking loudly and banging stuff, throwing stuff. Sleep in the day and make excessive noise and now its 1am. They started making lots of noise from after 11pm. 2 nights of this rubbish. The rest of hostel is quiet and its only these same two women today and yesterday. Talk loudly in room, in and out of the crappy lockers from 11pm until close to 2am. I feel sorry for the next persons in this room
