Hotel is out of the centre, meaning its quiet and no car fumes. Its not far from via etnea, which takes you to the centre.we walked. Behind the hotel and up the small hill, towards the hospital are really nice local shops.and a lidl and macdonalds. We prefered via italia over catania centre. Metro is a 5 minute walk, Borgo.to get to train station.toamina and syracuse worth a visit. Back to hotel, clean and friendly, We had a large family room. Bathroom maybe smallish, but we dont sleep in it.lol We tried to think of a better area to be in, to explore, couldnt find a reason not to stay at villa mater.

We wanted a location out of strict center, cause we anyway wanted to do car trips. They have a free parking and good located. Hotel is out of date, old furniture. Nevertheless, staff super super nice, breakfast ... well, we werent hungry :p lady that works at breakfasts was super super nice and becouse of her it was specialty to eat it. Wall of hotel are paper thin, we could hear snoring of gusest in next rooms. As I said, do not go if you are planing tonstay in hotel whole week. If you need a place to sleep, go! It is value for money!

Very friendly staff and willing to help, free parking, good breakfast and near to city center. The hotel is quite old and the rooms are outdated but for a short stay it was really perfect. Found exactly in the outskirts it was really easy to reach everywhere having a leased car.
